  2. Hi and welcome to the club - i wouldnt say that is fine - and if the mechanic has replaced the full rack and pinion, then he should fix any problems you are experiencing with it..
  3. Well, I spent last week in Stateline NV (apologies for not being around here), I have to say, stunning scenery, Lake Tahoe is just superb... But i wasnt sure about the town, one half was nice and quaint, whereas the NV side was just built up casino's, and kinda ruined the whole place IMO...
  4. $1,500 isnt bad for a new engine.. but a head gasket would be much cheaper.. If the car came free - and the new motor is in good nick, it'll be good for 100k, if its taken care of, so look at it as $1500 for 50k trouble free motoring... assuming you trust the guy!
  5. cheers Steve yes us brits get smaller engines, but hey
  6. thanks for the info mike - glad you managed to sort it!
  7. HI Welcome to TOC, Sorry to hear your selling up....
  8. I thought the O2 sensor would be somewhere in your air intake system.. have you taken out the air filter and looked around there?
  9. interesting... I personally dont know, i thought the 4.7 was a N/A V8 though...
  10. thats good advice, really if your filling anything in your car, its best to do it when the car is level, as you dont know the inside shape and dimensions, and can cause problems..
  11. It could be plastic from the steering wheel catching on the console? and i wouldnt say any noise is normal - dont let them fob you off with that one!
  12. hi and welcome... sorry i cant help right now, but perhaps someone can...
  13. the 101 is slightly better - not that it makes much difference, it was only a minor facelift..
  14. that does seem odd - if it is new talk to the dealer..
  15. you could buy a roof box - much more aerodynamic and secure!
  16. thats a tricky one... its depends on how good you are mechancally - if you know what your doing, it should be easy, but if your an amateur, you might struggle... SteveLaw should be around at some point, he's a mechanic and can probably give more detail..
  17. I just found it interesting you were going through the hassle for steel wheels - i personally would have bought some cheap alloys and spiked tyres....
  18. i dont know anyone thats turbo's the engine - i have heard of a turbo'd MR2, which has a similar engine though... as you mentioned, i think supercharging is more popular.
