  1. Welcome!! That Tacoma looks pretty interesting...give us some stats?
  2. We probably can't help much with the value...our market here in the US is wildly different from yours, and that car falls into the classic car category, which doesn't have a book value. You should probably find an classic car appraiser or dealer in Johannesburg that could give you an idea. That being said, I can't imagine it could possibly be worth more than a few thousand dollars, depending on condition and the quality of restoration.
  3. That sounds like the right reset procedure. Maybe you do have an issue with the sensor...
  4. Welcome! I don't see the pictures?
  5. After researching a little (and trying and failing to find the 2008 Camry that's usually parked outside), I think the reset button is in the glovebox (or just outside it on the edge of the opening). I think it's a black button that blends in with the interior of the glovebox so it's hard to see.
  6. Do you definitely have the immobilizer? The light won't flash unless the car is locked and the alarm system is activated, but you indicated you don't have an alarm? Yes, Toyota offers an alarm for your car. Fog lights...a few hundred bucks for Toyota ones, I would guess. If you don't care how they look, you could get some aftermarket ones for under $100.
  7. TPMS = tire pressure monitoring system. It's not a necessary thing, it's just nice to know when you have a slightly low tire. If you can suffer with the low tire pressure light on all winter, it's not a big deal. The only way you should need a new system is if you are also getting new wheels with your winter tires.
  8. The 3M is really cool...it's called "clear bra" and covers a lot of the front end of your car. I have it on my GS. It's a little expensive though....
  9. Yes, the little yellow dot is good. It's not necessarily bad though if you don't have a yellow dot. It just means that you didn't regenerate that much power in that 5 minute interval. If you're on the highway, you may not regenerate power at all...no big deal. As for the stored power: it may or may not fill up or drain, depending on how you're driving. If you're in the middle or at 3/4, you're fine! Hybrid driving tips: http://www.lexus.com/hybriddrive/fuel_tips.html
  10. Welcome! Congratulations on the new car! Nice wheels!!
  11. "DVD PAL/region 2"?? I don't think that's compatible with your car. It's probably something where you have to take it to the dealership, who will remove your player, send it to Toyota, and replace the player. Toyota will eventually send the disc back to the dealership if they can get it out, and the dealership will call you. Should (hopefully) be under warranty.
  12. Welcome! Those vans can run forever...400-500k is not unrealistic if you take good care of it!!
  13. I was going to say don't do it yourself if you've never done it before, but it sounds like you've got someone that knows what they're doing.
  14. Yeah, have it checked out at your next service if you can't find the reset button. If all the tires are good, it could be another issue. It's probably nothing that will affect your daily driving though.
  15. This is has been a source of aggravation for me since December when I got my 2008 GS. The 2007 only took a month or two to find a software override; the 2008 was impossible!!! I now have a physical switch that temporarily disconnects the speed sensor....works extremely well as I have access to everything: phone, audio controls, settings, nav stuff...everything behaves like the car is parked until I hit the switch again.
  16. Welcome! That new Sequoia is an impressive vehicle. Congrats!!
  17. Welcome! Congrats on your new Avalon...fabulous car! Is that your first Toyota?
  18. You probably don't have a system problem. You probably had a slight cold snap last night, just enough to lose a little pressure in the tires, and by the time they warmed up, the issue was gone. That being said, one of your tires is a couple pounds light. Check your tires, and if the light is still on, then look on the lower part of the dash, probably under the steering wheel on one side or the other for a reset button. I'm not sure exactly where it is on your car, but that's the usual place on most Toyota/Lexus.
  19. Love the wheels...gorgeous!! I think your Camry is around 3200lbs, give or take a bit. Ask the tire guys on the pressure. Or it might be on the tire.
  20. Are you planning to install it yourself? Have you done it before?
