  1. Did you try Classic Soft Trim? I know they used to do it, not sure if they still do. I think the leather is Katzkin (sp?). http://www.classicsofttrim.com/
  2. You might want to call the dealer anyway...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised on the prices on keys. My guess is they're under $100.
  3. Here's some things Lexus recommends for improving gas mileage on the RX hybrid..it will probably help on the Highlander: 1.) Minimize cold starts 2.) Accelerate slowly 3.) Avoid heavy braking 4.) Avoid speeds in excess of 60 mph 5.) In stop-and-go traffic, accelerate to your desired speed, then lift off the accelerator allowing the vehicle to run more on electric power 6.) Make sure tire pressure is at recommended pressure 7.) Avoid carrying unnecessary loads 8.) Use air conditioner and defroster only as needed 9.) Use premium fuel 10.) Use the "D" gear position instead of "B". Only use the "B" gear position in order to maintain speed on steep grades.
  4. I'm not driving a Highlander hybrid, but I have a couple thoughts on hybrid gas mileage: 1.) The more accessories you have on, the more power you need, and the more likely your gas engine is to be on. I know it's been pretty warm lately, so I'm guessing you've been using the a/c a lot. You'll probably start to see better gas mileage in the early fall when the a/c doesn't have to work so hard. 2.) You most likely won't have a good indication of what your gas mileage will be until your car is truly broken in...give it a few thousand miles. Other than that, enjoy your new Highlander. I've heard they're pretty quick, and lots of fun to drive.
  5. Looks sweet, but what I really want is a new Supra Turbo!! I've had three, and if Toyota is going to do this level of performance, why not step up to a new Supra? I don't want to have to buy a Nissan, Mazda, etc.
  6. Yes, awake, but don't check in that often. I live in Kentucky, near the Camry plant, and there's an occasional car show here, but not much. I think the major Toyota car shows are in California.
  7. I always had great luck with Bridgestone Potenza RE730s on my Supra, but you might want to look at Kumhos...great tire, good performance, good value.
  8. I see the TRD emblem...did you do anything in terms of performance upgrades?
  9. Check out www.trdusa.com. They might be able to help with suggestions to make your car perform better if you call them. Cold air intake won't make much difference in your...maybe a couple horsepower, if that, and it won't make a difference in emissions. Did you try some basic maintenance like a tune-up? Maybe that's your problem?
  10. Timing belt, tune-up, replace all fluids, inspect everything...that's what's recommended at 60k. I did it at 87k, and it was just fine. I talked to the technician, and they also said 80k is okay. In fact, I think Toyota changed the recommended timing belt replacement interval in 1999 or 2000 to 90,000 miles between belts. Not sure what's involved, but I'm pretty sure they don't pull the engine. -LeighCM
  11. Did you try discounttire.com, discounttiredirect.com, or tirerack.com? I've always had great luck with them.
  12. He's right...you don't buy a Toyota because it's quiet, although some are very quiet. You buy a Toyota because you can drive it for 500,000 miles with minimal expense. I have a Lexus and a Toyota, and, yes, my Camry is louder than my new GS300. But I'm not complaining...I have 173,000 miles on the Camry and absolutely zero issues with the car. To put this in perspective, I also (unfortunately) have a Ford Explorer. It's a 2003 with 60k, and it's had many, many major mechanical problems in its short life...and it's far noisier than my old Camry and (I'm sure) your Highlander. Go test drive any domestic SUV, and your Highlander will suddenly seem very quiet and smooth. -LeighCM
  13. I'm a recent Supra owner...just sold my 1994 Turbo (the third Supra I've owned). What do you drive? -LeighCM 98 Camry V6 2006 GS300 AWD 1994 Supra Turbo (sold...very sad..)

    Refurbing

1.) You can shampoo the carpets, but you're better off spending a $100 or so and having someone professionally detail the car. It's worth the money, even if the car has 190k. 2.) Have you tried WD-40 or white lithium grease? 3.) Try Goo-Gone. Removes bugs, tar, sticky stuff, etc. You can buy it at any place like Walmart, Meijers, hardware store, etc. 4.) Seatbelts are a safety issue. You should consider having it done by someone who knows what they're doing. $500 sounds very steep, though. I think you can replace the entire seatbelt mechanism for well under $500. 5.) Is it a power antenna? What's specifically wrong with it? -LeighCM 98 Camry V6 2006 GS300 AWD 1994 Supra Turbo (sold...very sad..)
  15. I've taken some pictures, but I can't upload them. It says that I don't have permission to do so..... I can email photos if you'd like. -Leigh 98 Camry V6 2006 GS300 AWD 1994 Supra Turbo (sold...very sad..)
  16. There's button in the setup you have to press...it says something about "automatically reroute". -Leigh
  17. I'm selling my 1998 Toyota Camry if anyone is looking for a nice, reliable daily driver. It's in great shape, has approx. 172k, and is in excellent mechanical condition. I work at a Lexus dealer, so my car has been maintained by Lexus technicians, including a recent 60k service with timing belt, and new front brakes. I'm only selling the car because I bought a new Lexus, and I don't need it any more...there's no problems with it. It's a Camry, after all! Here's what's on my Camry: 1998 Camry LE V6 Leather seats Cassette/CD player Automatic transmission Heated seats Fog lamps Rear spoiler Gold package Wood trim package Toyota keyless/security system A/C Cruise control Power windows/locks/mirrors The car looks and drives like it has about 50,000 miles, as I take very good care of my cars. I'm located in Northern Kentucky, just outside of Cincinnati, if anyone wants to look at my Camry. Asking $5500 or best offer. Email me with any questions, or if you'd like photos. I'll be available until July 1, then gone on vacation until July 10th. -Leigh 98 Camry V6 2006 GS300 AWD 1994 Supra Turbo (sold...very sad..)
