  1. I can speak from authority on this. Just tell me what year your Corolla is. And this is a "bottle jack", correct?
  2. Well, you ought to be be outside of any emissions regulations they have in Kalifornia because the engine is pre 1984 and the vehicle will be off-road. Is that your concern?
  3. You did end up doing the job the right way. Notwithstanding multiple trips to Advance and Sears. Trial and error, as they say. My only question is did you use/consider a synthetic or semi-synthetic gear oil?
  4. What kind of spark plugs are you running? Irridium, correct? If not, correct this. Also, for $40, get a K&N air filter. A few extra horses for a few extra bucks. Also try the Mobil DriveClean 7500 5W30 oil--another 1 or 2 miles per gallon.
  5. Let the people in this forum know if you have a bad CV joint, OK? STEVE
  6. Does it happen only when you turn in one direction or both directions?
  7. My 94 Corolla was broken into and they DID get my CD player. So I went to a place I have bought from before, a place I know and trust, which has a big selection of everything, plus free product advice online or with a human: www.crutchfield.com The prices are good, they telll you what you need to know, and they help you compare products.
  8. Is it a popping sound or a squeaking sound? Mine had a squeaking sound but I managed to fix it. See the previous post I did on this.
  9. That code is for "lean", as in the air/fuel mixture. Stick your finger up the tailpipe and wipe the inside. What color is the ask inside? Is it gray? That would be too lean. If it is black it's probably not. Also check your spark plugs.
  10. The Tornado works. I am running one in my Camry and i picked up 1 or 2 miles per gallon, plus I changed the Iridium plug when I put it in. Did you pull the fuse out to reset the ECU when you changed it or just disconnect the battery?
  11. Thanks for the heads up, STEVE. This would also be a good occasion to remind everyone to download the latest virus definitions for their anti-virus software.
  12. How did you push in on the outside of the glovebox? That releases it.
  13. Since it is running now, go ahead based on what you have stated, get a can of carb cleaner, detach the intake hose, be careful, start it up, and manually shoot it in little by little over time. Pretend YOU are the carburator, go gently so as not to cause a fire. A lot of carbon is probably in the intake. This process should take at least 20 minutes to do it safely. When finished, put in a can of Berryman's B12. Drive it for a few miles and then take the NGK plugs out and clean them with emery board (your wife's nail file). Have you changed the fuel filter?
  14. Time to go to the dealership. Where did you buy the car? This will determine issues such as Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, venue and jurisdiction, and general civil procedure issues should the matter go to litigation.
  15. Can you take the air filter housing out and look below it? If so, and you have the 4a-f, 4a-fe or 7a-fe engine. The starter mounting bolts should be 12 mm or 14 mm. If you don't see the starter there, then you have the 4a-ge engine---which is a completley different story. So let me know.
  16. Take a look at the left of the floor shifter console. We ARE talking about an automatic, right? If so, there is a small plastic insert that can be removed with a small flathead screwdriver. There is a depression lever in there which releases the shifter.
  17. I have the same car, also with Bridgestones on it. Did you rotate them and balance them? I believe they do wear a little quickly, but mine handles just fine. Have you done an alignment recently?
  18. Don't worry about the availability of diesel in the USA. Almost 3 out of 4 gas stations sell it, especially Amoco/BP, Texaco, etc. But I suppose ponly Toyota knows whether the vehice will be sold here.
  19. Was the bulb socket clean when you replaced the burnt bulb? Stick a Q-tip in there and see if there is something in it.
  20. Another member recently mentioned that there is a company in the States (California) that sells them. They can be reached at 1-800-622-2033. I got a manual from them some time back. I later sold it on ebay, so you might want to check there.
  21. URACA is correct. That's where I got the manual for my 1994 Toyota--from that same California company. My manual was huge--2 volumes. I recently sold it on ebay after attempting to give it away for free.
  22. On your 2006 Corolla, do you have a lock which when opened with the key one way prevents it from being opened again from the outside until the key is turned the other direction? Dealer might want to look at the ground connection.
  23. I'd rather see you investigate the LUBEGARD range of products. While it is true that they are more well known for thier line of transmission protectant additives (I use it), explore this avenue first before deciding on the Motor Silk. Boron particles seem a bit too reminicent of CSL, which clogs oil filters.
  24. I have been running Mobil Drive Clean 7500 semi-synthetic for a while now in my Camry and, coupled with the K & N filter I have picked up a noticable mileage gain. But fulll synthetic is uneccesary unless you are racing your Avalon.
