  1. I think the interior lock is enough to dissuade the casual thief, but I think the organized crooks can defeat most car security...they'll probably just take the entire vehicle.
  2. Don't they usually need to be unlocked from the lock switch inside the car before you can unlatch them? I had a BMW that was like that...had a button to open the trunk on the trunk itself, but had to be unlocked from inside first.
  3. I would think that both are going to be gas guzzlers to a certain extent...you're hauling around a lot of weight with a Sequoia, and those are both big engines.
  4. Speed is a big one...you'll get much better mileage around 60mph than 75mph (lower RPMS = better fuel economy). Maintenance is also big, but it sounds like you've got that covered. A few things: Temperature is a factor if you're constantly running vehicle accessories like heat or a/c. If you keep windows closed, especially at higher speeds, you'll get better aerodynamics and better mileage. Don't haul a lot of stuff around in the car...less total weight is better. Make sure your tires are properly inflated.
  5. Have you been doing all of your scheduled maintenances? What kind of highway driving do you do? High speed?
  6. Try Uhaul...a hitch should be $200-300. A Corolla isn't really recommended for towing though...
  7. No experience with Yaris...sorry... :( If I'm doing my math right, that sounds like about 40mpg, which is great mileage.
  8. There's not going to be a huge difference between dealers, but you may be able to get a few bucks off here or there. Check out this site to start: http://www.toyotafinancial.com/consumer/tf...iceAgreementRSC You can still buy an extended warranty after the original warranty expires; just not as much coverage is available.

    Tires

Looks like I'm finally due for a set of tires for the GS350. I could use a few opinions on the new ones. I'm looking for something very quiet, but still sticky with great performance. The front runner right now is this one: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 245/40ZR-18 93Y
  10. Hey, you could get it shipped for only about $1700.
  11. I agree. Never saw the spam post because you killed it so quick, but I'll donate a set of used Toyota mats to the cause!! I've heard a theory presented on that accident in CA that perhaps the driver did it purposely. He was apparently a cop who investigated car accidents, so should definitely have known what to do, especially as the car was only going 40mph when the issue began. ES350s take awhile to get to 120, so he had some time. I hope for his family's sake that it was not intentional.
  12. I haven't looked at one in a couple years, but I remember a .kwi file is software, not maps.
  13. Yes, if you were to put the disc in your computer, and look at the files, some are data (maps) files, and some are software. My thought is that you could take the data from a European disc, and the software from a US disc. That way, you'd use the US software.
  14. Might have to start watching BBC...I'm sure we'll be hearing about this for awhile on our networks here. Disregard the fact that NHTSA just closed the SIXTH case for Toyota because of lack of evidence other than operator error or improper floor mat installation...we all know that ABC knows everything.
  15. If it's only $15 for a two day subscription, you might want to do it. TIS is a pretty handy thing, and in two days, you could download or print a lot of useful stuff. An actual printed repair manual will be a few hundred bucks.
  16. He could probably burn a combination disc...use the firmware from one disc, the map data from the other.
  17. I think Greddy and many of the other big tuners have those gauges available.
  18. I think the connector is a direct connect, nothing to do with bluetooth.
  19. Corolla is probably your best bet...more of those than anything. And they were pretty simple, so repairs should be easy.
