  1. Congrats on the free car!
  2. You may have difficulty getting someone professional to do it for you....way too much liability with moving seats. It becomes a safety issue.
  3. Steve, you are the best. I seem to remember a tech taking apart most of the front interior of a car just for a few lights, but you always know the shortcuts! Either that, or he just wasn't a great tech....
  4. Try this: http://www.discounttoyotaparts.com/index2....213983&x=22&y=9 Good luck!
  5. It's amazing the little things you find on these cars...very cool.
  6. You'll probably just need spark plugs, new filters, maybe new coolant...not much. If you still have a maintenance guide with your manuals, check out the 60k service. You've already done the timing belt, but some of the other stuff wouldn't hurt.
  7. Not in Oregon...but if you get as far as Vegas, look me up!
  8. Thanks for insight....and welcome to the club. I've also driven the Volvo, and you're right - the build quality, handling, noise, etc. are all far inferior to a Highlander. And the Volvo is supposed to compete with the Lexus RX330, not the Highlander.
  9. If it's rubbing or scuffs, you're best off having it airbrushed. If you touch it up with paint by hand, you'll end up with some texturing, whereas having it airbrushed will make it look almost new. Depending on how much you're having touched up, it should be well under $100.
  10. 300k is a pretty good start...keep going!! Anyway, check out this link: http://www.toyotaownersonline.com/stories/index.php
  11. It's closer than a cousin...try a fraternal twin. Once you start to drive Toyotas, you'll continue to do so. The peace of mind alone is worth a few extra bucks.

    Spark Plugs

Could be...I'm not positive, but you might have iridium plugs and they have longer intervals.
  13. Well, surprisingly enough, the Sienna and the Lexus RX330 are the same basic vehicle....very, very similar. That's why it really is a luxury vehicle, even though it says "Toyota" on it instead of Lexus. Congratulations on a fantastic new car! As for the payments, just think of it this way: it may have cost you more than the Caravan, but in 7 or 8 years, you'll most likely have actually spent less because of the far fewer repair costs you'll incur, plus the Sienna will actually be worth something when it has 100,000 miles on it where a Caravan would be worth next to nothing.
  14. Happy New Year, everyone!!
  15. It's probably a short in the motor. Mine did the same thing. Just replace the motor when it gets too annoying. Will it close later after the car sits for awhile?
  16. Sweet....Hayabusa territory! Good luck!
  17. I put them in my Camry...I have terrible night blindness, and the Silverstars worked well for me (at least until I actually changed over my headlamps to real HIDs). It seems like they lasted about 2 years, and I thought they were maybe $20? It's been awhile so I'm not positive. I'm thinking about selling an old HID kit that I have for my 98 Camry. I haven't checked to see if it'll work with your car, but let me know if you're interested and I'll go track it down (I just moved, and it's in a box somewhere....)
  18. This stuff is no big deal. The intake is simple, and you can probably easily do that yourself. Intakes, depending on what you get, are pretty cheap...maybe $100. An exhaust will be a bit more, several hundred at a minimum, and you'll be much happier if you have a mechanic do it for it. It's a real pain to crawl under your car and replace exhaust. A garage will be able to put it up on a hoist and change the exhaust fairly rapidly.
  19. Do you have HIDs already? Because if you don't, it's not just a case of changing the bulbs. You'll need an entire HID assembly, with ballasts, new wiring, special bulbs, etc. They're hard to get now (I guess there's some legal issues with aftermarket HIDs), and you can plan on spending about $500. If you just want a whiter bulb, get some Sylvania Silverstars.
  20. Toyota comes out with a new one periodically. Check with the parts department at your local Toyota dealer.
  21. Intake, exhaust, etc. would help a little.
  22. Sounds cool. Maybe about an 11-second car when you're done? :D
  23. Sounds great...it'll be lots of fun when you're done. Post pics when you get a chance! When do you think it'll all be together?
