  1. Also aftermarket alarms are VERY good at draining batteries sometime. Also, you may have an alternator issue where it's not charging the battery, which would explain why it goes dead each time you turn it off...and your battery may be so far gone it's not going to hold a charge.
  2. Check this out: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/guide...=2000&int_id=56 It's not just fluids, so the $400 quote you have is pretty reasonable. You may also need to do the timing belt, but it may be okay to wait until 90k.
  3. I was just looking through old posts, and noticed this. There is a way to defeat the system so you can program Navigation while driving (say, if you had a passenger...I'm NOT recommended the driver do this while actually moving). Check this out on ClubLexus: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167666 Scroll down about 1/2 way, and you'll see how to do it. I've tried it on several different models and years, and it's worked on everything so far.
  4. H4L? You shouldn't be able to go very fast if it's in low. Have you tried making sure it's in 2WD, then backing up 10 feet or so?
  5. Steve, Everytime I read a post from you like this, it always impresses me. How can you know this stuff...and remember it from an older car like that?

    Radio

What's the in-service date on your Corolla? It may still be under warranty for the radio issue, depending on exactly what the problem is.
  7. Be careful when you lower it. If you just add springs, you may get a bouncing effect over bumps or on the highway. You also may not rub on a flat road, but if you hit a bump or a curve at speed, you may get some rubbing...really annoying if you've just spent a few thousand bucks on wheels, tires, suspension..
  8. I think the problems they refer to are because of the chips in the key...the aftermarket shop will take on of your master keys and hide it near the ignition so the car will actually start with the remote start. Without the key in the car, the car thinks someone is breaking in when the remote starter tries to start it, and won't start. If the aftermarket shop is positive they can do it, go ahead...but make sure they've done it successfully on the same model.
  9. Unfortunately, by the time you do all those repairs, you've probably exceeded the value of the car. At this point, you may want to consider donating or selling the car, and finding something in a little better shape. I hate to be the one to tell you that...but you'll probably spend less in the long run.
  10. fidgits is right...the FM modulator is the way to go. It'll cost you $50 or so, and works beautifully.
  11. I forget where I heard this, but someone told me at one point that the folks at Toyota were going to actually raise prices a bit just to help GM out.
  12. That's great info...thanks for sharing it with us.
  13. Got a link to the Broadway mirrors? I've never heard of it...

    Airbag

Why do you want to turn it off? Do you have someone really short or small sitting there?
  15. Some basic stuff to remember now that you have a turbo: ALWAYS warm the car up until the RPMs drop, and ALWAYS cool the car down after driving, 1-3 minutes, depending on how hard you drove the car. Your turbo will last much longer that way.
  16. Yes, I think the Toyota lawyers have struck again. Like the "I promise not to use Navigation while driving button", and why they wouldn't put 17" wheels on a Matrix with a sunroof because it raised the center of gravity by a couple millimeters, etc., etc.
  17. Hmmm...I do have a noise like this in my Lexus. Thanks for the tip - I'm going to check this out. Maybe the same rules will apply.....
  18. Are there two buttons by any chance, one less noticeable than the other?
  19. I looked at the places I thought would sell it, but I can only find it for a 2004...sorry, and good luck!
  20. Ouch...thanks for the warning. Any chance it could be a simple mistake, or is this standard operating procedure for them?
