I don't know how much you want to spend, but have you considered a turbo/supercharger?

You may be able to remove the cut-off...there's equipment available for that for Supras, but I'm not sure about the Corollas. It's called a fuel-cut defencer, and I think HKS makes it.

I forget...what else have you already done? Did you do an exhaust yet?

There's a technical service bulletin on this problem. The dealer may potentially fix it at a relatively low cost (Toyota may contribute a bit to the repair). Check out parts.com for low prices on Toyota parts.

It does save a lot on labor if you do it at the same time. However, it also probably won't fail this soon. A water pump is really a maintenance item, but perhaps at your second timing belt service?

It will definitely void the warranty...and Stevelaw's right. You won't get any better gas mileage.

That's pretty suprising that the dealer won't help. It should be an easy re-program. Have you tried calling another dealer?
