  1. Wow...that's rotten luck. Thanks for the post!
  2. 2JZGTE!!! (Doubt it would fit, unfortunately. It would be cool though!!) Welcome, by the way!
  3. I don't think there's very many disc manufacturers...there's only one or two data collectors in the country, and that's where the problem lies. Toyota, Subaru, GM, LandRover, Audi, and several others all use the same data collectors. Unfortunately, there's almost a monopoly on automotive navigation data collectors, so we're at their mercy.
  4. No...they are set up to use regular fuel. Any upgrade in octane is really just a waste of money because you're not going to get any better mileage, the car isn't going to run any better...you're not giving your car "a treat" as I've heard people say.
  5. Hmmm...not sure on that one. One of the reasons the price is so low on the Echo is that Toyota didn't spend a lot of money on interior trim. There's a strong possiblity that it's supposed to be like that. I wouldn't be terribly concerned about it. Worst case scenario, you may eventually have to replace the screw with another screw. Great little car though...lots of room inside, very peppy. And I always thought that center instrument panel was pretty cool. You're probably getting some pretty fabulous gas mileage too.
  6. If there's an area with three similar buttons in a row, that's Homelink (garage door opener). One of the other buttons will probably be to turn off the auto-dimming feature for the mirror. Nice car...enjoy the road trip!
  7. Here's the programming instructions: http://www.geocities.com/toyota_speed2003/page_0.html Couldn't come up with anything specifically about making it beep or not...
  8. Darn...that would've saved you a few bucks if it had worked. Let us know how the Coasteltech product works out.
  9. Probably due for your 5 year/60k service...minor tuneup, tire rotation, possibly timing belt. Check out this link for the maintenance schedule for your car: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/index.php
  10. IF your car has it (and apparently that's a big "IF" with Prius'), try the directions for the Sequoia. I don't have the exact directions for a Prius, unfortunately.
  11. Shift points, maybe? AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK Park the vehicle on a level surface. With the engine idling and the parking brake applied, shift the selector into all positions from "P" to "L", and then shift into "P" position. Pull out the dipstick and wipe off the fluid with a clean rag. Re-insert the dipstick and check that the fluid level is in the HOT range. Do this check with the fluid at normal driving temperature (70 - 80°C, 158 - 176°F). HINT: Wait until the engine cools down (approx. 30 min.) before checking the fluid level after extended driving at high speeds, in hot weather, in heavy traffic or pulling a trailer.
  12. IF your car has it, it's "Customized Body Electronics". Basically, it means you can change the programming on some things. For example, you could change the power locks to lock when you turn the car on, or when you shift into drive, or only when you hit the lock button.
  13. Hey, just consider it a challenge!! Good luck!! The reason you'd have to give up a key is if you have the security keys with the chip inside. That chip has to be present to start the car, so you'd have to hide one inside the dash somewhere in order for the remote start to work.
  14. Shouldn't be a big deal...Circuit City or Best Buy should be able to install one for a couple hundred bucks. You may have to sacrifice a key though...
  15. Do you mean check the transmission fluid?
  16. A couple things for you to look at: http://www.ehow.com/how_2044858_clean-fuel-injectors.html http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h22.pdf
  17. He probably dumped fuel injector cleaner in it...you can buy that at AutoZone, etc. It may be too gunked up at this point to help. I think you'll definitely want to replace the filter first before you try to mess with the injectors yourself.
  18. Looks good...I used to have Silverstars in my old Camry. Not quite HIDs, but heading that way.

True...I've had multiple Toyotas from "B.C.". I found that in many cases (well, Supras, anyway), you can just pull out the ashtray and use that area for a water bottle or similar. My Porsche has absolutely nothing in the cupholder department, not even a work around. I guess they just want you to drive and not screw around...

The problem with the weighted cups is that they can still slide away when you take your car sideways through a corner...and I try to do that at least once a commute, if at all possible.
  21. Yeah, some people amaze me...like the ones that think they don't have to change their oil because "it's a lease". Or the ones who wonder why their super soft factory installed tires only last 20,000 miles (try to explain the difference to them between those and a 60,000 mile tire...hah! Brings new meaning to "talking to a brick wall!")
