  1. Thanks for answering. I have figured out how to change the pointer to our exact location parked in the driveway, setting that as our "home address". So, now that I did that, we can use the turn by turn to other destinations. Only trouble with doing that is returning to our home, the turn by turn stops at the beginning of the subdivision and we get the dreaded message "turn by turn navigation is not available in this area, please use map line of sight to get to your destination". Another response I got was to try and get my dealer/salesman to provide us with an update disc the end of this year? I like the sound of that one, as from the response I got, Toyota sure is not going to give me one! Regards, Robert
  2. Well actually NO I just do not believe Toyota Customer Care? Really Cares At All! Here is a quote from a customer care? supervisor about my Nav System Problems 2/6/08 "Good Day Robert This is Juleesa Cabrera From Toyota Customer Care in Torrance calling. We are well aware that you are experiencing continuous problems with your factory navigation system in as much as you cannot input your home street address. Plus you are unable to access turn by turn navigation to or from destinations or back home. Toyota does not presently, nor do we expect to have at any time soon, any solution to this. You will need to PURCHASE update discs from the manufacturer when they come available. Toyota WILL NOT Supply you with any update discs FREE as they are customer pay items". She goes on to say, "We have contacted the manufacturer and learned that because your home is located in a 'rural area' it is more as likely NOT mapped accurately this version. Again, as updated discs become available you will need to purchase them from Toyota." Well I have news for you Toyota. This subdivision has been here for 15 years, the streets were all mapped and platted at the time of it's inception. County Road Maps as well as the Telephone Book Maps BOTH SHOW MY STREET. This Brand New Toyota Factory Navigation System with the NEW 7.1 Navteq Disc Should Have, NO PROBLEM WITH HOME ADDRESS INPUT As Well! So, according to Toyota Customer Care? If you are having difficulties and problems with your Factory Navigation System, well that's too bad for you. They Are Not Going To Help! We paid for an expensive Navigation System that cannot even find home street addresses. I believe if we would all band together, contact Toyota Corporate 1-800-331-4331 and send written complaints to them at the; Toyota Customer Care Dept WC 10 19001 South Western Avenue, Torrance,CA. 90501. direct your complaints to both the Supervisor of Customer Care, Ms. Lorraine Smelcer, and Toyota USA President Mr. Jim Lentz then also send written complaints to; www.Consumeraffairs.com as well as sending an email to; hotline@consumer-action.org to DEMAND Toyota Resolve These Factory Navigation Systems Input Problems. Just so all you folks out there know, 70 other people that I found so far, are complaining about continuing Problems and Difficulties with Toyota Factory Navigation Systems. Want to take a look? Just 2 websites are: http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f...ory-nav-15220/ after you read those 6 pages of complaints, go to http://priuschat.com/forums/audio-el...tml#post556155 for 6 more! We all paid BIG to have these Navigation Systems and they sure should work properly! As a Sidenote about this; My wife was at Office Depot and input our home address into a cheap Tom Tom, and a Magellon Aftermarket Navigation System. Both systems accepted input of our home address and gave my wife exact turn by turn navigation directly back to our home. Moral of this stroy obviously is; Save Your Money and Buy Aftermarket Nav. Systems. If one cannot utilize the system input of home street address, you are also unable to utilize turn by turn navigation features. Those are two of the most important reasons I paid dearly for to have the Factory Navigation System. This Navigation System is veritibly USELESS in it's present state. Toyota Needs To Hear This From All With Complaints! My question back to Toyota is; Why am I being penalized for YOUR SYSTEMS PROBLEMS and INACCURACIES? If the information on these discs is NOT ACCURATE, Toyota Needs to Find A Better Disc Manufacturer. Either I get update discs FREE or I want a refund on the Faulty Nav. System, as it cannot resolve these problems by itself!
  3. 02/05/2008 UPDATE FROM TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE? NO, NOT REALLY A supervisor just contacted me today, and had the audacity to tell me "while it is unfortunate you are experiencing difficulties with your Factory Navigation System, (yeah like it doesn't know my home street address, so it can't give me turn by turn directions anywhere) Toyota WILL NOT Make Update Discs available to you FREE. Update discs are 'customer pay' items". Well Know, So What Do You All Think of That, So much for Toyota Quality & Customer Care? It is obvious to me that the money I paid for this Navigation System, WAS A COMPLETE WASTE, AS TOYOTA HAS NO INTENTION OF GIVING ME EVEN ONE LOUSY UPDATE DISC! So if you are gonna get a Prius DON'T BOTHER GETTING THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM! It is interesting to also note that while my wife was at Office Depot, she input our home street address into both a Tom Tom, and a Magellon Nav. System and both accepted the address and gave her turn by turn navigation to our home, with no problem at all. Do yourselves a favor and Save Money, BUY THE AFTERMARKET NAVIGATION SYSTEMS! I genuinely feel "just so violated" of being ripped off by Toyota! So, as they say, and it surely rings true in this instance with Toyota, "BUYER BEWARE"
  4. While I am firing questions about. Do you or does anyone else in the group know how to EASILY change the alarm settings? I would like for the horn to beep, not just that "little peep" sound it makes now? Many Thanks, Robert
  5. Hi Leighcm; Well I tried the auto lock directions last nite but alas, it was to no avail. They still so not auto lock! It never went thru the full lock unlock sequence. So I will just get the coastal etech "fix" that just plugs in. Thanks for your help. Robert
  6. Thanks for the info. Not sure if I have CBEST or not. I do have the "smart key with alarm" How does one make changes? Using the remote Buton, or some other way? Regards, Robert
  7. Hi Leighcm; I am not familiar with CBEST? Would you mind explaining what it is/does to me? Thanks, Robert
  8. Thanks Much For The Nav Info. I went to the site and filed a report on my street not being even listed. A 2008 go figure? The lights, well I just leave them all on now, and when I open my door at the end of a trip, they go out. No real problem. The locks, yeah they even sent out a "Toyota Tech Specialist" to my dealership to check on the so called autolock system. BUT The tech and Toyota told me the feature, although listed in the owners manual, IS NOT on any of the 2008 Prius Cars. The Tech was nice enough to even hook his computer up to a just arrived 2008 Prius to show me that it doesn't work. Apparently it was going to be, but somewhere along the line the decision to cancel it out was made? Why, who knows? It does not work, and is never gonna work, so I just havta remember to use the armrest button or buy the coastaletech fix. Thanks Again For Your Help, and do let me know if you find out anything more about the autolock system? Regards, Robert
  9. 1. Yes They Do. I Guess That's About As Automatic As One Could Imagine Having! 2. No. This is an established existing subdivison that has been here for 15 years with all of the streets platted out back then when the subdivision was created. :o 3. According to the 2008 Owners Manual They Are Supposed To Automatically Lock When Put In Drive. They are ALSO Supposed to be Customizeable with a setting to have them lock at 15MPH. Mine DO NOT EVER AUTO LOCK! The only way to lock all the doors is by using the door lock button on the drivers or passenger door. Plus at the dealership, when the Toyota District Field Tech. Specialist hooked up his computer to my system, the Screen DID NOT SHOW ANY LIVE LINKS to perform any adjustments to! I consider this to be a 1st. Class Safety Hazard, and a "Carjackers Dream Come True"! Toyota's Customer Care People Called and told me, "Although this feature is listed in your 2008 owners manual, the car cannot auto lock the doors when the transmission is put in any position other than "P". and is also not customizeable either!"
  10. :o I purchased a 2008 Prius Touring Pkg. 6. With GBS, and Rear Bumper Applique. Dec. 1st. Issue No.1.Ordered D.R.L. and Auto Headlights BUT DID NOT GET EITHER? TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE SAYS; NEITHER FEATURE IS AVAILABLE IN THE US? Issue No 2. Auto Door Locks OWNERS MANUAL SAYS THEY ARE AUTOMATIC AND ARE CUSTOMIZABLE. TOYOTA SAYS; ALTHOUGH LISTED IN OWNERS MANUAL, AUTOLOCK FEATURE IS NOT OPERABLE OR CUSTOMIZEABLE? THIS IS A HORRIFIC SAFETY ISSUE AND A "CARJACKERS DREAM COME TRUE" If You Forget To Use The Armrest Lock Button, ANYONE CAN OPEN ANY DOOR! Issue No 3. Navigation System DOES NOT RECOGNIZE MY STREET OR MY HOUSE ADDRESS. TOYOTA SAYS; WE HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AS SOON AS A SYSTEM UPDATE IS AVAILABLE YOU WILL BE CONTACTED. WHAT? THIS IS A 2008. THE SUBDIVISION STREETS HAVE BEEN HERE 15 YEARS. THIS TOYOTA NAV. SYSTEM IS UNABLE TO RECOGNIZE MY HOUSE NO. OR STREET? SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG HERE? Is There Anyone Else Experiencing Any Of These Type Of Problems? I must Admit To Being A Bit "Disallusioned" With These "Shortcomings" From Toyota! The Prius Otherwise Is Just Great. MPG is Phoenominal Compared to my Old SUV.
