  1. Where did you even find 95 octane? The highest I've seen in Las Vegas is 91 octane, and the highest I've ever seen was 94 octane at one gas station in Michigan. 95 octane won't make much difference for your car...just stick with the recommended octane for your vehicle. That's what Toyota has determined will produce optimum gas mileage, performance, etc., and any upgrade (like to 95 octane) will pretty much be a waste of money.
  2. Thanks for the post...very useful!
  3. You'll probably be fine with regular oil...just make sure you change it at the appropriate intervals.
  4. As long as you have a decent car cover made with a material that will not scratch the vehicle, and you don't leave it on the car for years at a time, you should be okay.
  5. So at 360-400 miles, how many gallons are you putting in the car? It can't be completely empty...
  6. I don't think it'll reset. What's your average mpg for one tank of gas? I'm trying to figure out if the difference makes sense...
  7. TRD is good...it's a Toyota part, so you're guaranteed perfect fit + warranty. Still, remember that you should replace all the suspension components or you'll still have bounciness.
  8. What kind of mpg are you getting?
  9. There's no way to reset the range feature. Toyota builds in a safety buffer. For example, when my GS says it has 0 miles to empty, I actually have about 2 gallons. The reason for this is because if you actually run your fuel injected, highly sophisticated computerized car out of fuel, you're going to have lots of fun issues.
  10. This isn't an official opinion...but I seem to remember having a conversation with a tech about the benefits of synthetic vs. conventional oil for VVTi vehicles. He told me that some VVTi cars can have engine vibration problems with synthetic oil. Not sure what the rational was, but that's what he said.
  11. I'm almost positive it's OBD-II. There may be a white sticker under the hood that gives you a definitive answer.
  12. It's going to be tight to put 18" wheels/tires and lower the car. That being said, Tein is good; so is Eibach. Just lowering the car won't be enough though...you'll most likely have a little bounciness unless you change all the suspension components.
  13. As a guess, a new Toyota part (assuming they were still being made) would be around $1,000 for a targa top. A 20 year old used part should be substantially less.
  14. Scion xA? Use regular fuel; not sure on the oil. It may tell you what oil on a label under the hood. Congrats on the new car!!
  15. I had a set of aftermarket fogs that I bought (I think) AutoZone that I put on my old Camry. There was a separate switch on the dash (just mounted in one of those empty slots) that I had to remember to turn off, but they worked great...I just mounted them in the lower grille. I don't see why you can't use the knock-out spots on the bumper. Just make sure you mount them securely. You could also buy the Toyota parts for the 2001 Sienna, and install them on yours, but that will be pretty pricey.
  16. Love to see pics... Unfortunately, it's probably not worth buying the parts; they'll cost more than the car is worth if you can actually get them.
  17. If you're in the US with the car, the fact that it's in km instead of miles hurts it. Good mileage, though...I'm estimating value around $4000-6000, depending on condition.
  18. Purely out of idle curiousity, do either of you (mitchcoyote & pipsqueak) work for Amsoil? You seem to be die-hard fans of the brand!
  19. Check with another dealer. I've never heard of it, and even if it was a safety message, Toyota Corp knows how to spell and it would definitely make more grammatical sense if it was something set by the factory. I've played with the new Lexus systems (same ones, of course), and they do not say that.
  20. Mostly, it's just trim...the XRS (or S) has the sporty look, the LE the nicer interior, and the CE is the basic one. One or two years, there was an XRS model with a bigger engine (I think it was some variation of the Celica engine) that had about 170hp. I suppose you could always go buy a Celica GT-S motor and put it in your Celica.
  21. In response to #2: what's your mileage?
  22. Did you talk to an manager at the help line?
