it certainly has a Variable Valve mechanism but not sure of designated engine code
-
Sounds like it is incorrectly wired to the high beam bulbs....you wouldn't be able to switch the standard LED bulbs so you would need two bulbs to make this work
-
Thanks for the update. hopefully that will permanently resolve the issue
-
eBay would have to be my first port of call for sourcing aftermarket accessories
-
I have found this with some car windscreens where the rake is such that it has quite a large difference in distance from the top to the bottom when viewed and affects the eyes which can make you feel ill.
Also, found it with Hybrid vehicles where the acceleration is linear and does not have any slip on take off which leaves the stomach behind when accelerating from stationary
-
You may be able to get an auxiliary plug switch or splitter on eBay that will do the job
-
There is something in the settings (end of the stalk or on the wheel I believe) but i believe it will reset to an 'on' default every time you switch the ignition back on
-
Sounds strange, unless it is a chemical reaction from something?
-
I think it would be dealer only or maybe eBay would list something once you have a part number or visual identification of the bulb
-
If i were you I would remove the dash cam and see if you disturbed any connections (e.g. in the fuse board)
Sometimes good to go back over anything you added/removed and take it back to standard and once sorted then reinstall

Got my fuel pump replaced a week ago. I had no idea my fuel pump was defective. Now my acceleration if much faster and responsive. It is like the dealer added 100 HP.
Great news! thanks for the feedback

All 2005+ Toyota Tacoma now use a Timing Chain and should last you 200K miles with normal driving, so don't worry about it.
If it is earlier than 2005 and has a cambelt then 60000 miles / 5 years would be the right time to replace it and the waterpump at the same time. -
Hi Eric.....welcome to the Club
May be worth a search through this forum and also the Australian Toyota Owners Club forums as they are hot on doing this sort of modifications.
Good to have you onboard

Have you checked for any independent fuse for the High Beam?
Also, it is not unusual for both bulbs to have blown at the same time, worth checking before going too much further into wiring, etc

Hi Susan
Sorry to hear that the engine is terminal.
There are two options here:1. replace engine and try to find an alternative one that may have come from another model (Corolla, etc)
2. rebuild the existing one but this may be quite expensive depending on what items have seized.
Generally, if the oil is run low then the top end of the engine is always usually the first point to suffer so it may only be a seized camshaft.
I think it may be wise to strip off the top of the engine and see what has occurred before committing to spending huge amounts of money on another engine -
Very nice!!!

Hi Scott......welcome to the Club
Getting to be a rare car now.....post up some pics of it if you want?
Good to have you onboard!

Have you considered painting them instead?

Hi....welcome to the Club
The problem (generally) with fitting additional parts and accessories is that they may fit and the loom may also be in place but the components will need to be coded into the vehicle so that the CanBus system knows its there to then be able to activate it.
With a lot of your other questions it may be worth looking at the Prius section in our UK site. www.toyotaownersclub.com as there is plenty of information in there

Hi....welcome to the Club
A couple of things spring to mind......you didn't mention replacing the Coolant Temperature Sensor as this could be a major contributor to not delivering the correct resistance to the ECU which in turn will not fuel the engine correctly.
Also, worth checking the fuel filter and housing as a poor seal will allow air to be drawn in and affect the flow to the high pressure pump.

Wow! that's a great mileage, didn't know won't record any more miles after 300k.....maybe they thought the cars wouldn't achieve that milestone?

some forums say FSM says Molybdenum disulfide lithium based grease to teeth of the steering rack.
That sounds about right .... just try to introduce it wherever there are moving parts and you can't go wrong.
Moly Grease is 'sticky' enough to bond to most surface areas -
It is an idea to introduce as much lube into the areas that are contacting and of the correct viscosity to ensure it stays in place.
I would just use a sturdy cable tie as there is no real pressure inside the gaiter and also it sits in a groove so shouldn't go anywhere once zipped up.

Hi....welcome to the Club
Unfortunately, new vehicle delivery does take time but that doesn't seem that long as some new build orders are taking 6 months onwards from Toyota to European buyers
