witxp
Hi, I have a 2005 Camry 4cyl ATX Is it common for 05 Camry's to have a stiff shifter? I'm mostly concerned about shifting out of the Park position. Thanks
fidgits
how stiff? how forceful do you have to be? it could be low on transmission fluid?
witxp
Not a whole lot of force. A bit stuffer when compared to a Maxima and a 626. I find that every once and a while it's very loose, but only for that one shift. Toyota dealer said it was fine and refused to do anything else about it. Also there's a weird noise that seems to come from the back of the car every time it's driven. I think it's the suspension loosening or brakes ??? stevelaw
Time to put your lawyer hat on. I'd be writing letters.

Naz
I actually get a bit of the stiff shifter too in my 98 camry but i found a solution. If you put the car in Park and let your foot off the brake and let the vehicle rest on the trans then try to shift out again it needs some force to get out. What i do is put my car in Park then put up the handbrake, Then take my foot off the brakes. Now whenever I shift out nof Park no forced needed :)
