There is a way to defeat the system so you can program Navigation while driving (say, if you had a passenger...I'm NOT recommended the driver do this while actually moving). Check this out on ClubLexus: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167666 Scroll down about 1/2 way, and you'll see how to do it.
