96 Camry Front End Vibration

I experience a slight vibration in the front end. This occurs when the car

reaches between 50-60 mph. I only experience it when the car is on an inclining

or declining road. No problem driving on a flat road at any speed. The tires are

in good condition and I have them rotated regularly.

I stopped by my local tire dealer and he said a 4 tire rebalance and alignment

might solve it. I am trying to avoid a costly process of elimination. Has anyone

experience this problem, if so what is the solution ?

You have my deepest appreciation.

Walter

Sounds like a wheel balance issue to me. Do you have factory or aftermarket wheels on the car?

Do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel or in the seat?

I have the factory rims on the car. I feel the vibration in the steering column.

What do you think ?

Thanks,

Walter

Could be a problem with one of the wheels, or a wear problem with one of the tires, or a balancing issue. Most likely it's a balancing issue as it's only in a short speed range. You won't necessarily need the alignment though. Does the car pull to one side?

Definately a tire balance issue. How new are the tires? Do they have even wear? When was last time balanced? If normal tire balancing fails to correct the problem, seek out a tire dealer that performs high speed on the car tire balancing. They use a machine that spins up the tire when mounted on your car and they can then balance out any front suspension and tire issues at the same time. Just start making some calls.
