  5. RE: tranny is not smooth Have you checked if the tranny fluid is good...it maybe a good invest to change the transmission fluid. and see if that helps...
  6. Hi there ... I hope you are getting more then 5 km per liter of gas because 5 km = 3.1 miles... I have 4 cyl 2003 camry it averages 10 km / liter..or 6.214 miles/liter , 28.24 miles/cdn gal or 23.5 miles/US gal hwy and city running. a V6 should get little less(ie. 10%) The conversion units are as follows: 1 imperial gal = 4.545 liters 1 US gal = 3.785 liters 1 km = .6214 mile P.S. How are you checking the fuel consumption. Best is to fill up tank take an odometer reading, drive a good distance fill the tank again note the mileage travelled and amount of fuel used to calculate the efficiency. Hope this helps you out...
  7. Very interesting I visited the dealer yesterday ....and the parts man told me the 2000 camry has a fuel filter but he says it doesn't need to be replaced at all!!!!! Well is that interesting? What should I do? Does any one have fuel filters problems with 2000 camry? Did you change fuel filter yet? My car has 200,000km and I haven't changed the fuel filter yet, I wondering when it might plug up? Comments are welcomed..
  8. I have a 2000 Camry 4 cyl 2.2 L engine ...Does anyone know the location of the fuel filter and does it require replacement?....
  9. Hi seattlite: I believe the cabin air filter was not a standard in the 2000 camry because our 2000 camry does not have one.........
  10. Hi there.. I have a 2003 LE Camry with popping-like noise in the steering column when I am turning.. The dealer replaced the intermediate shaft and the noise is now gone ..I haven't heard the steering column noise anymore... The repair was done under warranty as the warranty is 3 years or 60000 km and my car was within the warranty period..... I don't know if there is a TSB for 2004 Camry with similar problem?? I don't know how you can find out if TSB is out for 2004....maybe Stevelaw knows, since he mentioned that TSBs were out before... Are TSB's covered by the manufacturers regardless of warranty period????? Does anyone know this for sure??? STEVELAW:: How do you find out about TSB's????....
  11. Hi there Stevelaw: For a 2003 Camry LE 2.4L 4 cylinders...does your manual indicate the location of the coolant air bleeder on the engine block... I plan to drain and replace the coolant soon but... I don't know the location of the coolant air bleeder on the engine block...Your help is appreciated.. :)
  12. Stevelaw : Do you know what is the cause of the front suspension knock, because I think I also heard that noise when I go up the driveway. By the way how did you find out if there are TSB's out ???
  13. What's the performance of Prius in the snow ...in the northern part of the country with winter seasons??? :)
  14. I presume the brakes still work ok..the parts are correct...the calipers are free and guides are good and lubricated... and if the brake noise is squeaking squealing type of noise it maybe solved by putting some silicone brake lub (or anti-squeak) behind the brake pads..did you install pads or mechanic?
  15. Well I took my 2003 Camry to the dealer to check up the dull thud I hear from the steering column when turning and jocking the car during parking......The dealer said it's the intermediate steering shaft and has ordered one for replacement....they say it's under warranty ...I hope it solves the problem, and not add more.. I will let yous know the results.. :o
  16. For the 2000 Camry 2.2L 4 cyl, I recall the toyota manual recommended 149,000 KM for a timing belt change, that is about 90,000 miles...To change it I saw the mechanic had to suport the engine and remove the front engine mount in order to access the timing cover etc. I think they removed the wheel and splash guard also.. A hoist and air tools are great to have to do the job. It's a tricky job to do at home... The prices vary from shop to shop. Private shop is cheaper. The dealer are a bit pricer I believe the dealer price was about $200 + taxes for a timing belt.... I replaced all the other belts at the same time at a private shop for about the same price.
  17. I have a 2003 Camry with about 30000 miles with a similar problem, ...and when I turn the wheel one direction a half turn left and then turn it right back a dull thud sound occurs, the sound seems to occur on one side only...... I think it is the steering rack & pinion system loose play?... I will see what the dealer says tomorrow and report back...
