perhaps a used or reconditioned would be cheaper?
-
if it is stolen then you would need all locks changed and keys reprogrammed. I am surprised its only $1000

here it is.. good to post pics on the post so others can see it ;)

hi and welcome to the club.
Sounds like the manifold heat sheild is loose or corroded. When in reverse the engine moves on its mounts slightly in the opposite direction to when its going forward.
When its hot the sheild expands creating a tight fit.

sounds like you have had some bad luck!
Have you tried the local breakers yard for second hand parts?

Hi and Welcome
Sorry to hear about your bad customer service.
It is a good idea to get some official names from Toyota and research there addresses. Then next time it is poor let them know you will write into Toyota complaining of their poor service mention the top names.
I have used this trick a few times and works a treat
good luck

i had this problem with an Lexus ES300 which has the same engine.. found out it was a split hose in between the air sensor and the engine.
What happens is the engine leans forward when braking causing the split in the hose to open up and let too much air in.. this caused the car to cut out.. but restarted perfectly.
check the hose in between the airbox and the engine... usually a corrogated hose... squeeze and looks for splits all round.

no worries Steve :)

i have always used Castrol Magnatec Semi Synthetic.. good quality and non of that mineral trash

i am sure what i read Tigger wants to tow something ie. boat, trailer etc.
-
never said it would scratch the paint.. just covering my backside.
Floss is just a minty approach fishing line works very well
-
cat gut (fishing line) then in a sawing fashin slow cut through the tape.
i used on mine and worked fine.. but i made sure the fishing line did not touch paintwork

i know the feeling.. toyota seem to stick a twist on the end of the dipstick which is also a tight fit.
The only sucessful way is early morning.
Every toyota or lexus i have owned has been the same.
