soniamichael1
I have a 2010 Prius with factory installed navigation. It stopped working a few months ago, and I am not willing to pay 2500 dollars to fix/replace it. I wondered if anyone else has had the same problem. Toyota Owners Club
Does it not function/turn on at all or is there a more specific problem?
soniamichael1
It does not function. Every so often the map will reappear, but It requires a new reader. To fix it will cost 2250, so since that it about what I paid for it, I guess it needs to be replaced.
Toyota Owners Club
Have you had the car from new? I guess it has run out of warranty now?
TingTingPanda
If you bought the car new, the representative might've mentioned about the x-year warranty in which it would cover for any electronics-based malfunctions, such as your navigation system or even the whole head unit itself. If you are out of warranty, yes, it would cost quite a few Benjamins to replace it. When I bought my vehicle, the representative pushed me towards getting the warranty AS THOUGH the electronics head unit goes out quite often after a few years of usage. Reading about your situation, I should've opted for the warranty myself.
Don Parker
My 2014 taco blows blue smoke when started after being idle for a day or two. I have heard the navigation system is expensive to fix. I use the iPhone. Sorry about your trouble.
