toyota99
[/siz I have a 1999 solara. The steering wheel squeaks when turning ( noise is coming from inside the car). This usually happens during the winter. the local mechanic said that he would have to take the entire steering wheel apart to fix it and that it was not worth the cost. i also have an intermittent problem with my door l and trunk locks. i don't have the electronic locks- just the old manual locks. the problem is the key will not turn the trunk lock so i use the inside lock release. the driver door lock sometimes will not turn either, or it will turn without my moving the key the full turn, but the lock will open. i usually put this lock lubricant "tri flow" and it works for the door, but the trunk lock has been frozen for quite awile. fidgits
the locks sound like they have rusted, especially if they have been like that for a year...
stevelaw
As for the steering wheel, if you take the top and bottom of the steering column cover off, you'll see a rubber bushing going around the column. There may be a lubrication issue with your 1999, as this is happening with 2002s, 2003s, 2004s.
