  1. I have a 2005 4runner from new. It's not normal because my 4runner started making a whine after going 15 years without any noise 247,000 km PRIOR to a few years ago taxman@batelnet.bs havens67@gmail.com Tom SUV is in the Bahamas 242 327 7359

  3. I have a 2005 4runner with the V6. 210,000 miles and it starts up and runs like a new car/truck still. That check engine light goes on for a few seconds on every start up and then goes off on ours. I was considering buying a new 4runner, but why? We drive this 4runner every day. I've gone through 4 starters including the OEM. The last starter I installed came with a lifetime warrantee, so I called the number on the box and the girl said if it ever fails, we'll send you a new one. NEVER had a check engine light except for a few seconds when I start her up with the key. Amazing cars and trucks does Toyota build. Honda is the only other car I would consider. I bought my daughter a new Camry for graduation from Florida State 5 years ago and it's in Denver running great still. Drove the Camry (55,000 miles) through the Rockies for sightseeing 6 months ago. Saw an Elk and a Moose standing alone in the center of a 3 mile wide lake that was 4 feet deep IN THE MIDDLE! One Forest Ranger at a rest station with a diner said there are no more Moose in the Colorado Rockies, but it was definitely a Moose. It's illegal to shoot at one. They are protected.
  4. I gots over 210,000 miles on my 2005 4runner rear end / differential. I changed the fluid with some Valvoline 80W 90 in July 2019 (143,000 miles). It was black and plenty old, but with new lube since then, I'm going fine IMO. I get the oil changed in driveway every 5000 miles - religiously. Differentials can last to over 500,000 miles on a 4runner IMO. I've done our 4runner differential fluid once. Outboard differentials and lower units on the other hand are garbage - even when built my Yamaha. Rear Differential Fluid Gear Oil Change - Toyota 4Runner - Bing video
  5. 89 pickup beast; Very strange issue you have. You need a good mechanic to fix. I own a 2005 4runner with 205,000 miles and it starts and runs immediately every time you turn the key, and has never had any issues in 17 years. Bad coil?? Starter? But listen up.... I had to replace 4 starters in my 2005 4runner along the way. The OEM lasted 4 years. Replacements lasted 4 years also - but they failed too. Current starter is now 6 years old and came with a lifetime warrantee. I called the number on the box and the girl said if it ever fails call them and they will send me a new one!! No return requested. When my starters failed you could smack it once to get it to start with just the key, but after that you were done. Send your email and I'll send you the manufacturer on the starter box (and post it here) of the current starter that is now 6 years old+. taxman@batelnet.bs or havens67@gmail.com I'm in the sunny tax free Bahamas. Tom BTW pickup beast ... ... Your issue is not the starter It sounds like a faulty coil to me.
