satzx
I bought a used 2002 Toyota camry with 48000 miles, My commute to work is a one mile. Toyota owners manual recommends avoiding long warmup periods. But a few folks recommend a good warmup for short drives to avoid EFI problems, I am really confused. Guys please advise.. DFBonnett
Fifty miles will get it good and hot to get all the condensation out of the exhaust system. As the manual states, avoid the long warmups.
Leighcm
The 50 miles on the weekends will definitely help. If you do want to warm it up, just let it run for a minute or two, just until the RPMs drop a little. Don't run it hard when it's cold. BigPete
not 100% sure with the 2002 camry, but my 1996 (widebody 3VZ-FE) likes a warm up. my car will warm itself up by idleling at higher than normal rev's (around 2,000 rpm on first start) then once it gets warm, it slowly goes down. I've notice if I leave it to get back down the under 1,000rpm, its warm enough to drive (even if the thermo isn't at "normal operating temps") PS: if you only take on short trips like 1 mile per day, make sure you take it for a good highway style drive for a bit every now and then. I've noticed the difference if I do that with my car :) hope that helps
