I entered the address of home from the dealer and I proceeded to go home and I took a deliberate detour to see if it would correct me or give me alternative route. It didnt say anything. Was it giving you instructions up until then? if not, it sounds like you hadnt selected navigation mode, if it was, what happened when you took the detour? The NAV system should recognize the fact that you are not on course and find you an alternate route home. This process should take no more then ~ 5 seconds. Hope this helps!
