erom43
About two weeks ago I started having problems removing the ignition key from my 2002 Avalon. The car would shut down normally and everything would seem fine, except, I could not get the key out. Only after constant jiggling would the key release and come out. The problem has become intermittent, and has is now occurring at different degrees, with all three keys. Sometimes there is no problem at all......other times it can take 3 or 4 minutes to remove. The car is always in park, and moving the steering wheel seems to have no effect. A Toyota dealer said ignition cylinder replacement would run over $350, and would probably require carrying two keys around. The same dealer estimated a locksmith might run around $150 to repair the tumblers. Anyone have any other thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.
