netmiser
Hello All, I have noticed that other countries have different toyotas than US models. Leighcm
Hello All,I have noticed that other countries have different toyotas than US models. Has anyone tried to import a non-US model into the USA? How is is done? Can I get a left hand drive? It can be done, but you'll need to check with the US Customs department. Some vehicles are not admissable at all, and some need major equipment additions (often expensive) to bring the car in. You could bring it in just for parts, but you may have a problem getting it registered. Check the allowed car list on the US Customs site. humanoid
Yeah, the imported car will have to meet safety and smog standards among other things.
thomas.ahart
It will not be worth it. Importing a car costs so much money that it is almost always cheaper to just buy a US model. Many of them are not admissable until they reach a certain age. Somebody on the Lexus forum was trying to import a Canadian Toyota Celsior, the non-US version of the Lexus LS400, and found out that the car could not be imported into the US until it reached 25 years of age.
