Confusion around Toyota Collision Centers

Recommended Posts

I noticed many big Toyota dealerships have "Collision Centers" with certified repair specialists. However, when I go to toyota.com "Find a Toyota Collision Center" it lists far fewer locations. For example, if you search in the NYC area, there are only 2 locations that show up in the entire NYC area (near Englewood, NJ and Danbury, CT)

However, almost every big dealership in the area claims to have a Toyota Collision Center with factory+ASE certified technicians. For example take a look at the New Rochelle Toyota Collision Center website.

So why are there so few Toyota Certified Collision Centers listed on the main toyota site, while every dealership is claiming to have a Toyota Collision Center with factory certified technicians.

What is the difference?  I am trying to figure out if it is worth going to one of the few "Toyota Certified Collision Centers" for a repair? My relatively new 2023 Rav4 Prime XSE was in a collision and the other persons insurance is accepting liability so I am not paying myself.
