69xairmech Posted May 28, 2008 Share Posted May 28, 2008 07 Camry 4 cyl in Hawaii car runs rough when A/C is turned on ok if off. Dealer said car is running normal with A/C on? Typical dealer BS! Does this car have an idle compensator that adjusts the idle for the added a/c load? Or could the problem be the IAC idle control valve? Any help or ideas would be appreciated. From a 4 cylinder motor, the A/C compressor kicking on or off would be noticeable. Ths problem as you stated is not the compresser or IAC persay. In a V6 or bigger motor - this would simply not be noticeable. It is a slight drawback for having a 4 banger, but in return you get better mileage as compared to a Camry with a V6.
