Check Engine Light

OK...Here goes..I have a 1999 Camry XLE...It's a great car, but the check engine light will drive you crazy...After replacing the two items on the computer, the check engine light still won't stay out..Heres what happens...The check engine light will start blinking, then the idle drops about 200 rpms, and idles a little rough...It always does this at an idle...If I turn the car off, then start it again, the problem is gone...This only happens every few weeks...The problem is, this problem is keeping the check engine light on. I can't get the car inspected, and three computers aren't reading the problem...The shops tell me in this case the computer would pick up the problem if it was plugged in when the check engine light was blinking, but I don't see how that can happen...And I refuse to go to the dealer ever again, any dealer...Thanks

DL the manual here.. http://www.camrystuff.com/

then go over the diagnostics section carefully. You may find the answer there.

It could be spark plugs. I have a 97 Corola. It used to have a hard time starting on rainy days. Idle speed was low and rough. I changed the plugs and spent about $5. And the problem was gone. Now it has been running well for 2 years. Well, one time the check engin light came on again. I then purchased a code reader for about $35 on Amazon then cleared the code. It passed inspection and the light has not come out for almost a year now. Maybe you can try a new set of spark plugs...it won't cost much and is easy to replace....at least it won't hurt..
