  1. What's the easiest way to get the valve cover off the cyl head to replace the gasket as I'm told the cover is epoxied on? What's the best epoxy to use to reattach the valve cover to the cyl head?
  2. That was a quick fix! Too impatient . had to wait for the system to stabilize as I'd been without heat for a month with no garage to work on the car . and so it goes

  5. Just replaced the alternator on a 2.2 DL + had to replace the main blue fuse. Now the srs idiot light's on but car drives fine and battery now charges correctly. How do I reset the srs dash light assuming I didn't trip a fault code in the work I did. How do I check for fault codes?
  6. too many hands helping jump start a car. Jumper cables got reversed and now the dead car, when turning the key to start only show's the dash battery icon. Assume I either blew a main fuse or fried a fusible link but no info in owners manual. Where am I looking please thx
  7. Replacing heater core but didn't come with instructions on how to disengage tube connector clamps between the heater control valve and heater core inlet tubes. I don't want to damage anything. Heater core's just held in it appears with 2 bolts after the clamps are removed between the heater core and heater control valve; correct? How do I remove the tube clamps to pull the heater core out please? thanks

  9. Hi '95 2.2 / auto/ dl sedan No leaks/carpet wetness or anti freeze smell but turning on the heater spew's steam from passenger side defrost and dash vents. Heater control valve and hoses all ok. A/C works fine when warm but on warmup steam from both heater and a/c modes. Heater core? or what am I looking for. thanks
  10. ? on the front hydraulic mount style. Top bolt is there; engine raising on acceleration test; is the top mount bolt a "through bolt" and can be replaced or does it thread into a sleeve that's supposed to be secured to the rubber mount. If it threads into a sleeve can the sleeve be epoxied "or whatever" to reattach the sleeve to the mount rubber securely to repair it. If the bolt is a through bolt can it be replaced with a grade 5 bolt? New Mount cost's $71 I'm told by parts stores thanks
  11. How does the dome light cover come off to replace the bulb. Dealer said it was a press fit ......not ..... it has springs or clamps holding it into the ceiling thx
  12. got it, thank you ........ I'll let ya know how it went
  13. easy enough, thanks. I put the pads into the caliper, then caliper over the rotor . I'll try it your way. Assume the pads may not completely pull back from the rotor without the spreader springs? thanks
  14. How do you keep the "spreader" spring pins in the holes under the pads when putting the new pads in the caliper?
  15. Hi Roy Thanks .. checked it and the hose is firm/ rad cap and coolant recovery tank cap both look good also with no debris etc. May stop by a radiator shop and have them pressure test the radiator cap . Then again, they're not expensive and this is a new car to me. I agree as I think about it. Took the radiator end of the hose loose last night as it collapsed as the motor cooled and it immediately returned to normal.

  17. '95 w/2.2 liter motor When cold the upper radiator hose is collapsed .. when hot it's expanded to normal. Failing hose or failing thermostat? Coolant level is fine/ car doesn't run hot. Thx
  18. thanks .... I looked at those in the store ...... valve medic looked like a good choice
  19. Looking for better fm reception on stock am/fm cassett/cd player unit; antenna's clean and fine/am reception's fine. Toyota a16-406 head unit/w/Toyota compact disc player 34224. Other units I've used have had either or both an antenna trimmer (maybe this one's hidden somewhere under the faceplate?) and or local/distance boost switch. Niether in evidence on this one. This '95 camry has 191,000 miles/ strong runner/ excellent compression ..... there's some sludge both in the oil filler cap and on the tappet's though I haven't taken the valve cover off to look at the head closely. Added a quart of oil; oil went in as quick as I'd expect suggesting to me the oil gallery's are ok. Looking to clean some of the sludge out through a high detergent oil rather than disassembling/cleaning and reassembling ..... looking maybe at the Pennzoil high mileage oil or?....... Thanks Advice?
  20. not sure where label is giving the paint code ...info not on drivers door label steve
