2002 Camry. 4cyl 231,000
It has been in the family for 11 years. It always ran fine.
About 1.5 years ago it was sold to a friend of a brother in-law.
It was driven very little and not at all in the last 6 months.
The engine seems to run fine.
It now shifts horribly in all gears. gear selector has a 1,2,3 no D
So i assume 1,2,3 and OD. There is no OD button that i am aware of.
I have only driven it once. About 15 miles to my house.
I ended up driving it almost like a manual. but i was not moving the gear selector,
I would run it up to 4000rpm then let up on the accelerator to let it shift into second. Then repeat to get it into third,.
once up to 60 on the highway it would be slow to drop out of overdrive when going up a long hill.
I was babying the accelerator the whole way because i didnt know if it was going to make it home.
The symptoms did not change as the car warmed up.
The tranny did do some slight bucking.
I believe it would downshift correctly when coming to a stop.
With an obd2 plug using torque app. It only comes up with a o2 sensor code 1135.
Is there a transmission control module? or is it part of the ECM?
Can i just throw in a used ECM from a similar car?
Would any vacuum lines affect shifting?
Is the a Shift Solenoid that would affect all gears?
I am not afraid of dropping the tranny pan and changing valves.
The battery has gone fully drained while sitting. I am aware of poor idle after changing batteries on a camry, But it idled fine after jumping it.
I will try all ideas
Thanks...
