Hi BahamasTom! Tank you for sharing your experience! I have heard of several other 4Runner owners experiencing the rust problem, especially those in areas with harsh winter weather. It's definitely concerning and I agree that it should be treated as a safety issue. Has anyone had any luck getting Toyota to take responsibility for this issue and cover the repair costs? I would hate to have to pay for a costly repair out of my own pocket.
