  2. I have a 2009 Camry. The ac started to get warm. So i put some ac refrigerant in. It was cold for about a day or 2 then got warm again. I’ve added a couple cans a few times and the same thing happened. Anyone have the same issue? How else can I troubleshoot?
  3. Just took delivery of a new 2024 Tacoma Double Cab Sport automatic and all four tires had a pressure of 55-PSI. I checked the sticker inside the drivers door and it read 32-PSI in cold. Anyone know why my tires on a new Tacoma would have the Tire PSI set to 55? Is this standard or did someone in the factory just get confused? Thanks
  4. 1974 Hilux Long bed Pickup. Holley 4 barrel carb, Buick 231 short block and a 350 turbo trans. Loads of power she is really fast!! Bad news is the manual steering gearbox is totally shot. I cannot find a rebuild kit anywhere or a rebuilt gearbox. I am at a loss as to how to get her steering again. Any ideas what I could do? I am not afraid of modifying the steering if anyone knows what might work? Or slap a different front end on?
  5. My Highlander 2011 just got painted. The rubber strips on roof were in bad shape. The price to replace them was $350! I don't have a roof rack, so I imagine I don't need them. Do I? What purpose do they serve?
  6. I heard with CVT transmissions it is recommended or even essential to change the fluid every 30k miles or so. But on a conventional automatic with of that age and mileage I've heard more often than not as @Ayo and the dealership said, best not to change the fluid. Certainly check the level at times.
  7. Hi Everyone, I just bought my first Toyota. It is a 2024 TRD Off Road Premium. So far I really LOVE pretty much everything about it. I am going to let the dealer do every other service until warranty is expired. Wanted to join a few Toyota related forums and bond with like minded people. So, Here I am . . . and "Hey" to everyone. Glad to be here. I hope I can bring something to the table. Look forward to meeting many of you. ~Steve
  8. HI, new here. I have a 2002 Tacoma SR5. just about perfect shape except....for the frame. Very bad shape. Friends tell me to get rid of it, but I'm resisting, hoping something can be done. Any advice?
  9. My 2012 Toyota Corolla S wouldn't start after coming out of the store. When I turn the key it clicks only once and the dash lights, interior lights, and headlights still come on. We've replaced the battery and cleaned the terminal cables, we've replaced the starter, replaced the starter relay, and replaced the engine crankshaft. My car still won't start even after replacing all of this. What else are we missing? Any help is appreciated.
  10. Hello everyone! I'm a new member and just wanted to drop in and say hi.
  11. I've had two highland ers and have always had Michelin mud and snow. Little more expensive but I put 93000 miles on my last set. I lived in Indiana and performed great in the snow and every day driving.
  12. I have a 2016 Highlander and am looking at getting a camper. I'm looking at a Geo Pro but it has a dry weight of #3450. Does anyone have experience towing that kind of weight. Not sure if I should look for something under #3000.
  13. I have a 2016 Highlander and I'm thinking about getting a Geo Pro 19. Does anyone have experience with one. I'm not sure.if I want to pull that much (3250 dry weight). Does anyone tow something that big our should I stick with under 3000 dry?

  23. My 2021 Tundra 4x4 8-Foot Bed is listed as having an upgraded 38 Gallon Tank. When the Gas Gauge is exactly lined up on the "E" line (I've only done this twice), My fill-up takes only 30.5 and 31 .2 Gallons, leaving approximately 6 to 7 Gallons still remaining in the tank. Most Gas Gauges , when pointer is on "E", are designed and calibrated have approximately 1.5 to 2.5 gallons remaining in the Tank. -- a couple of things can be happening here... 1) the Gas Tank capacity is not the advertised 38 Gallons, but possibly, and truly only 32 Gallons. 2) The in-tank fuel gauge sender was not corrected or replaced, at the Toyota factory to compliment the larger footprint, optional 38 Gallon Tank, which leaves the excessive and unused reserve when reaching "E". Furthermore, with my lightweight camper mounted 100% of the time, my Tundra averages 12.7 MPG indicated electronically, and each fill-up results in a displayed range of 409 miles available, which coincides with a 32 gallon tank. A 38 gallon tank would result in a displayed range of 482 miles, IF the electronic sender and gauge are correctly calibrated. Has anybody out there had this experience, or any success with a concrete explanation from Toyota? My solution is to treat my truck as truly having a 32 gallon Tank and NOT the 38 gallon tank that my window sticker indicates. Thanks for any help or guidance!
  24. Hello everyone, I'm looking for advice on servicing the rear drum brakes on a 2005 Camry (145k). Since buying it used (107k), the brakes have been soft. I replaced the brake fluid and the front brake pads and rotor, but that didn't help much. When I bought the new drum and shoes and started replacing they were in pretty good condition (compared to new), I replaced them a couple of weeks ago anyway and again didn't feel much improvement. The pedal is still soft and does not brake effectively. I noticed that the handbrake does not work properly (the car rolls even on a slight slope with the handbrake fully applied). At the same time, if you tighten it a couple of clicks, the car starts to brake much better. The auto adjuster worked when I installed it, but after replacing the rear brakes the handbrake worked at least a little, now almost nothing again.
  25. Since my initial post, I have accepted a job opportunity in another state and will be relocating. Unfortunately, I cannot bring my 1996 Celica GT 25th Anniversary Edition convertible and must sell it before I move next month. I believe that selling it on my own is the best way to go. What would be a good asking price for this low-mileage (61,500) vehicle in very good condition? Thank you for any advice!!
  26. 2013 Highlander (124,000 km) U151F transmission filter. Regarding aftermarket filters, specifically the WIX 58010 ordered from Rockauto. I wanted to relay my experience with this filter change and would be interested to know if others have had it too. There is something wrong with the design or filter media on this filter. It caused my transmission to malfunction and I had to replace the old strainer. The Toyota dealer informs me that these strainers are there for the life of the vehicle and they don’t even appear on their parts diagrams. When I put the original strainer back on, the transmission behaved normally. No missed shifts, flares or cutting out. Before with the WIX filter the car wouldn’t go and I had to stop to let the fluid 'catch up' to the demand. The filter was starving the pump of fluid. Rockauto won't give me a refund and just repeats warranty replacement policies. I think they should also investigate these items and remove them from their catalog for that vehicle (and any other Toyotas they apply to that use strainers) so others don’t have my experience. I’m hoping that no long term damage was caused by this and I will let you know if it has. I only drove the car around the block a few times when it was acting up. Canadian Tire (Parts Source) sells a King-o-Matic filter that looks exactly like the WIX unit (same hard filter media) that I was thinking of replacing the WIX unit with, until I spoke to the dealer. I took the original unit into the Toyota dealer and the parts man had a tech look at it and he confirmed it was the original lifetime strainer and that I should just put it back in. Note too that several other suppliers here in the Ottawa area sell replacement filters and I suspect they are all the same. They look like the original and fit the tranny properly but don't work. I also erased the Transmission Control Module (TCM) memory when the WIX filter was installed and it had no effect on the shifting. The transmission threw codes P0776 and P2714 when I tried to drive it which have disappeared with the original strainer back in. All in all this was a very expensive lesson for a simple maintenance operation, three fluid changes, a new scanner purchase and a bad filter. At least the tranny has pretty clean fluid at this point.
