2016 Highlander Liftgate won't open

I have a 2016 Highlander that I got a blanket stuck in the lock hatch on the lift gate.  I was able to get the blanket unstuck but now the lift gate won't open.

I can hear the motor on the actuator activating when I hit the button and the lights flash and the car beeps but the lift gate won't open.

I have checked to make sure the window on the lift gate is closed,  I have checked to make sure the lift gate button in the glovebox is on, I have disconnected and reconnected the battery, I have tried to reset the lift gate by holding down the lift gate button in the car but I don't hear four beeps.

 

Any suggestions what I can do to get my lift gate to open?

I'm guessing you got the lift gate open by now but in case you have trouble in the future... I watched YouTube videos and followed their suggestions after I got a blanket stuck in the lock as well.
