carlsson
I have a 2005 matrix XR5 speed that I've owned and driven for 12 years. 160000 miles. Just recently the starter Started turning slower And now won't turn at all. I took the starter out and had a tested Fine battery also Fine. Cleaned battery terminals, Checked clutch position safety switch, Replaced ignition switch, Tried both keys still no start. Don't know where to go from here. I can roll start it and runs fine. Please help me figure out what else should be checked/ tested? My airbag light in cluster has been coming on for years and the dealer service department told me it was the $300+ clock in dash causing fault when I yook it in for airbag recall. I've tried 3 other clock assemblies from other used matrices and all do the same thing. If I buy a new one from the dealer does anyone know if they have been improved to not fail in the same way as the originals? Starting issue is far more important to solve first, but safety is a high second. Thanks!
carlsson
It turns out it was the starter after all. I started looking for other faults because when I took the starter to the local auto parts store they told me It tested good.
