Prius75070 Posted October 23, 2022 Share Posted October 23, 2022 •I had a strange failure with my 2014 Prius: Brake lights would not turn off. •Started occasionally but became more frequent until the brake lights would not turn off. •Investigation found the switch pressure plate was bent. •Fix: pliers, bend the pressure plate to better engage the switch. •Still not sure how the pressure plate got bent in the first place. Bend probably got worse when I slammed the break pedal on and off to try to re-set the stuck break light. •Cost: Several hours of troubleshooting, headache, frustration and $0.
