mytoy
I can not control my navigation system while driving. Does anyone have a by pass available so that my passenger can input information while I drive? Help!
Leighcm
What year and nav version do you have?
09_CAMRY_XLE_BARCOLA RED
I HAVE A 2009 CAMRY THAT I WOULD LIKE THE OVERRIDE FOR AS WELL. THE SYSTEM IS NOT VERY USER FRINEDLY WHEN, YOU KNOW, ACTUALLY DRIVING THE CAR.
Leighcm
No over ride for the 2009...sorry. Toyota changed the firmware pretty significantly for some 2008s and probably all 2009s, so it has been "hack proof" so far. I've been working on it for months and failing miserably. You could always clip the wires leading to the speed sensor...that would make it work while driving, but would probably void your warranty and eliminate a couple of the nicer features (like ASL, bluetooth speed dial, etc.). Then go back to map...you should be able to program a destination while moving.

I am certainly interested once you do find a hack. What is ASL? Why would cutting the wire have a negative impact on the BT speed dial? I would think that if the car thought it wasn't moving it would fix the problems we have with BT and using the phone in general.
Leighcm
ASL is the function that turns the stereo up or down to compensate for road/wind noise from speed. If you disconnect the speed sensor, this won't work anymore because the nav system will no longer know how fast you're moving. Bluetooth speed dials: also linked to the speed sensor. If you're moving, and hit the phone button, it'll go to the speed dials. If you're not moving, or if you've disconnected the speed sensor, it'll just go to the screen with the keypad.
