  1. So new to this forum and first time post. So I have a 1998 tacoma 4wd 3.4litre. so the truck has 242,000 miles. The other night arrived at my location with truck not running out of the norm. When I went to leave the starter will turn over, but will not start. Checked all fuses that are in the two fuse boxes. nothing. Checked to hear if I could hear fuel pump running. not running when ignition is switched to on. Checked spark, nothing.( wires and plugs just replaced 6 months ago). Plugs were completely dry no gas on them. Checked for battery juice to coils, nothing. I have a breathalizer in truck, was having issues with this, the guy said alternator was going out. Had it checked, was all good.(wasn't giving me any symptoms of bad alternator). Two issues that could have been warning signs truck sometimes will only start if gas is given soemtimes it still will die. When cold starting truck doesn't want to idle down. Also when accelerating truck sounded like fan clutch is going. It feels real stiff too. In manual it talks about the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. Checked the ohm raring on the camshaft sensor was in the specified ohm rating, couldn't get a good reading on the crankshaft sensor with out removing skid plate and several other things which I will do today. Another possibility that was brought to my attention was the fuel inertia switch. Does any one know where its at on my truck? and whether or not this would shut down spark also. See that is whats puzzing right now. NO SPARK NO GAS. If I had spark one would think it definetely is fuel pump or something along the line. If I had wet plugs thar wouldlead my to believe coils, spark plug or the like. Kind of stumped and really worried that this could be a very small short wit hthe most barried hardest to get to wire. Does any body got any ideas? would really appreciate it. The only vehicle I got at the time and I'm one of those people who have been hit big time with Unemployment do to the economy.
