  1. When the light is off will there be codes?
  2. My RAV4 is a 2001 with 140000 miles. Last spring I replaced two of the oxygen/fuel sensors then reset the check enging light. That greatly improved the performance. The light has been off since then. Two weeks ago, while on a trip, after driving most of the day, the check engine lignt came on while accelerating to get on the Xway after refueling. The light was on for several days after reaching our destination. I reset the light and it was off until the trip home. Same thing happened. After driving most of the day, the light came on after refueling and while acceleration to got back on the Xway. This time after about an hour of driving, the light went off. It has been off ever sense. The bulb is NOT burned out. I thought the light had to be reset when it came on. Any info about why it would come on and then go off and what might cause it to come on in this situation? Thanks Gordy
  3. I have owned my 2001 Rav4 for several years. I purchased it from my son. While he owned it, the car was in a front collision while at a stop light. It did not deploy the air bags. When turning on the ignition, the air bag light goes through the normal checks, then goes off. The check engine light has been on as long as I have owned it. While in a shop recently, I have them search for the code causing the light to be on. They did not find any engine code. However, in what they called a complete scan, they found an error code for the left front air bag sensor. This shop did not know the meaning of that. I have found that the left air bag sensor is not mounted with both bolts and is easily shaken. My question is; can the loose mounting of the sensor cause the error code and can that sensor code cause the check engine light to be on. Thanks Gordy
