  1. Just thought I'd add an experience I had with my '93 Camry. I bought it from a friend at work. She said that it had a blown head gasket. She was right. It had never gotten too hot, but it definitely had white smoke coming from the exhaust. Since she gave me a very good deal on the car, I figured I'd try some type of seal-in-a-can. I did some internet searching and came across something called "Steel Seal". It cost $70, but I figured it was worth a shot. I received it within just a few days. I drained the radiator and flushed it with plain water. The directions call for you to raise the front of the car about 15 inches. I didn't do this at first, so learn from my mistake. I filled the radiator with antifreeze and the Steel Seal. You have to start and run the car at normal temp for 15 minutes at 1000 rpm, then turn it off and let it cool off. You do this 3 times and it is supposed to seal on the third time. Well, it didn't work. Still smoked. I was a little annoyed, but went ahead and pulled it up on ramps and went through the whole proceedure again. Lo and behold, it stopped smoking!! I let it cool off a final time, then figured I'd take it out for a spin. I drove it around town, with no problems, stopping to look at the exhaust once in a while. No smoke. After a few days of driving around town with no problems, I drove it to a town about 40 miles away. The outside temps were about 100 degrees, so I had to run the A/C. It did just fine. I've since driven it to Arizona a few times in some HOT weather. When I bought this car, it had 138,000 miles on it. It now has almost 151,000 miles. It runs like nothing was ever wrong with it. So, if you have an older Toyota with the 3.0 V6, check this stuff out if you ever blow a head gasket. Their website is: www.steelseal.com. Just to let everyone know, I do not work for this company, or make any commissions or anything. Just wanted pass this info along and hopefully save people a LOT of money.
  2. Actually, those are oil lines. The fan on the V6 model are driven by the oil pump. Just thought I'd throw that in! :)
