  1. Hey all - I have a 2008 Prius that has the dreaded braking actuator failure. I'm disappointed that Toyota is ignoring the problem, now that the extended warranty ended in 2017. Dealer wants $3751 for the job. The poor thing is probably only worth $5-6k so it's not worth having the dealer do it. Anyone know of an independent around Baltimore who might take it on?
  2. Hi all, Just acquired (from the original owner) a red '99 with beige interior. Other than a few scuffs and tiny dings it's literally brand new. Oil was changed at 10k Tires were checked/aligned at 15k Always garaged since new Driven by one guy (my neighbor) who is now incapacitated (cancer) and will not be coming home. So I bought his condo and car to help with his medical bills. You'll notice in the photos that I have the floor mats out, I had it detailed and am letting the carpets fully dry before putting the mats back in. I registered it today in case we decide to keep it - it was eligible for Historic plates! Ha! It's located in Maryland - I put in a new battery, added air to the tires...it starts, runs and stops like new. A similar example (but with 45k miles) just sold on BaT for 11k and most commentors 'in the know' believed an example with less miles should be worth more like 25-30k. Seriously?? Please educate me, we've had 2 Prius' but nothing like this age/mileage combo. -Scott
