My tailgate closes and appears to latch then pops open

During these days of hot temps (over 95F I have started experiencing a situation where when I close the tailgate of my Highlander is looks like it is closing and latching it pops open about 4 inches. I then have to manually close the tailgate. Is anyone else expereiencing this situation? If so what is the fix??
