  1. Anyone know how to disconnect the sensor that's telling the computer that the driver door of my 2006 Matrix hatchback is not closed? I'm not concerned about the dinging noise, as it seems everything I've read about this is addressing. But somehow having that second door ajar seems to be draining my battery. I think the problem could be solved if I could incapacitate that sensor. There's a whole lot more I could explain about this crazy situation but I think this is enough for starters. I've seen a video of how to disconnect it for a Toyota truck going behind where the rubber button in the door is that presumably tells the car it's closed. But for that vehicle, you could just pop off a panel and you'd be where there's a little plug, whereas it seems getting to the plug if it's indeed there would be a bit more complicated on my car. I really hope someone has experience with this. My mechanic can take a look at it on Monday but I'd rather not wait and I'd rather take care of it myself if I can. There's what looks to be a Torx screw holding the little rubber button on, but I couldn't get it to turn. I could apply some WD-40 and try again, but I don't want to force it if it's not supposed to turn! I sure hope someone out there has some experience with this on an earlier model Matrix. I keep seeing things about 2003-2008, suggesting those model years were quite similar. p.s. If anyone has a shop manual and could photograph or scan a relevant image and post it here, that would be fantastic!
