  3. Hello everyone, I'm looking for advice on servicing the rear drum brakes on a 2005 Camry (145k). Since buying it used (107k), the brakes have been soft. I replaced the brake fluid and the front brake pads and rotor, but that didn't help much. When I bought the new drum and shoes and started replacing they were in pretty good condition (compared to new), I replaced them a couple of weeks ago anyway and again didn't feel much improvement. The pedal is still soft and does not brake effectively. I noticed that the handbrake does not work properly (the car rolls even on a slight slope with the handbrake fully applied). At the same time, if you tighten it a couple of clicks, the car starts to brake much better. The auto adjuster worked when I installed it, but after replacing the rear brakes the handbrake worked at least a little, now almost nothing again.

  5. If you go to the dealer, I hope they can help you. I've found that because there are so many ways to operate and use the features, the manuals are really confusing. As far as the manuals go, there are two manuals; 1) Owner's Manual, and 2) Navigation and Multimedia Manual. If you want to try this before going to the dealer for help, you can find the manuals online. I find it's easier to do this on a PC. Click the link then follow the screenshots to find the Navigation and Multimedia Manual. https://www.toyota.com/
  6. Since my initial post, I have accepted a job opportunity in another state and will be relocating. Unfortunately, I cannot bring my 1996 Celica GT 25th Anniversary Edition convertible and must sell it before I move next month. I believe that selling it on my own is the best way to go. What would be a good asking price for this low-mileage (61,500) vehicle in very good condition? Thank you for any advice!!
  7. 2013 Highlander (124,000 km) U151F transmission filter. Regarding aftermarket filters, specifically the WIX 58010 ordered from Rockauto. I wanted to relay my experience with this filter change and would be interested to know if others have had it too. There is something wrong with the design or filter media on this filter. It caused my transmission to malfunction and I had to replace the old strainer. The Toyota dealer informs me that these strainers are there for the life of the vehicle and they don’t even appear on their parts diagrams. When I put the original strainer back on, the transmission behaved normally. No missed shifts, flares or cutting out. Before with the WIX filter the car wouldn’t go and I had to stop to let the fluid 'catch up' to the demand. The filter was starving the pump of fluid. Rockauto won't give me a refund and just repeats warranty replacement policies. I think they should also investigate these items and remove them from their catalog for that vehicle (and any other Toyotas they apply to that use strainers) so others don’t have my experience. I’m hoping that no long term damage was caused by this and I will let you know if it has. I only drove the car around the block a few times when it was acting up. Canadian Tire (Parts Source) sells a King-o-Matic filter that looks exactly like the WIX unit (same hard filter media) that I was thinking of replacing the WIX unit with, until I spoke to the dealer. I took the original unit into the Toyota dealer and the parts man had a tech look at it and he confirmed it was the original lifetime strainer and that I should just put it back in. Note too that several other suppliers here in the Ottawa area sell replacement filters and I suspect they are all the same. They look like the original and fit the tranny properly but don't work. I also erased the Transmission Control Module (TCM) memory when the WIX filter was installed and it had no effect on the shifting. The transmission threw codes P0776 and P2714 when I tried to drive it which have disappeared with the original strainer back in. All in all this was a very expensive lesson for a simple maintenance operation, three fluid changes, a new scanner purchase and a bad filter. At least the tranny has pretty clean fluid at this point.
  8. Where did you get that information?? Since I posted the question, I found out there is a seperate user manual for the Navigation system. I have just spent several hours reading each and every page. (over 400 pages) All it did was confuse me. I would think I had what I wanted only to be disappointed. I guess my best option is to take the vehicle to a dealer and have them show me how to use the Nav system. I really do appreciate you help...Thanks very much
  9. Can you post a picture of your dash? Preferably at an angle so we can see across the bottom of the clear, plastic screen. I find it hard to believe that you don't have two stalks at the bottom of it.
  10. 2019 Toyota Corolla LE, after driving it for awhile, I'll make a stop, when I go to leave it tries to start but won't. Have to wait 30-40 minutes then it will start and run fine again. Has anyone had this issue.
  11. I usually just use my cell phone (not connected to the Toyota navigation system) but recently I've been using the in-car system. I have a 2021 Highlander and the systems are only similar but not identical. 1. Setup Destinations (It does want to let me put in more than one (1) street number. See Navigation Manual Page 346: You can also put destinations in the Address Book. See page 348. The Address Book can hold more entries than the Preset Destinations list. 2. How to TURN OFF the destination when done using it. Turn off? I assume you mean this turn off guidance to the destination? Good question. The map screen in my 2021 has a red "X" button in the lower right hand corner that stops the guidance. Odd that there's no "stop" function referenced in the 2018 manual. 3. How to turn on Destination ON when needed. You can pull the destinations stored in the Preset Destinations list or from the Address Book. 4. How to delete a destination from the system when NO longer needed. You go to the Preset Destinations list (or Address Book), choose and delete it there. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck with your treatments and be safe.
  12. BTW this is for a 2018 Toyota Highlander.
  13. LOL New Topic. I have checked the users manual that came with the car and the subjuct is made so complicated I can NOT get thru all the steps I want be able to use. I have also looked at the online user manual (ALL 600+ PAGES ONE PAGE AT A TIME) and as far as I can tell the subject is not even covered. I do NOT even see the subject listed anywhere. If anyone know the page number of the Navigation system (if I missed it). I would sure appreciate knowing the page number. Things I want to be able to do: 1. Setup Destinations (It does want to let me put in more than one (1) street number. 2. How to TURN OFF the destination when done using it. 3. How to turn on Destination ON when needed. 4. How to delete a destination from the system when NO longer needed. I sure would like some help with this subject since I am with the VA and they want to send me all over the east coast for treatment. Thanks
  14. Hey guys. I need help wit a driveshaft for a 03 Toyota Sequoia sr5. What all years and types will fit a rear will 2 wd Sequoia
  15. After some careful typing I got an account with that website you sent me. LOL still pulling my hair out and I don't have much left. I see NO place sign in on that site.
  16. First let me say I did try to creat an account on the website you gave me. The cell phone box still gives me fits for some reason. I even borrowed my wife's cell phone number and it still would NOT let me create an account. Yes I have owners manual: acturally 2 of them (one that came with the car and the one Online). Would you believe they are NO T the same. I called the business that sold me the car and talked to the person that sold us the car and he just lied to me by saying he would come to me and show me how to do all of this. He never showed up. Using the Trip miles is a same thing. I have more issues than I can count. Thanks again for your response

  18. I just bought a 2025 Camry, and I love it. A very good car for an 81-year-old driver, given all the safety features. But what's with the lack of a clock that the driver can read? I don't see one in the screen just ahead and the one in the infotainment (hate that word) screen is very small and positioned as far from the driver's eye as possible. Has anybody found a way to display the clock better?
  19. The panoramic sunroof is intermittent, and my mechanic doesnt want to work on it, and said to take it to a dealer. I dont want that bill, anyone have issues. It works when it does, and when it doesnt, it doesnt do anything. I hope it's just a switch...anyone have this issue
  20. Just to add a little bit more info... Only time when I remove the gear lever to (R) the light goes OFF even if seat belt is buckled or not. But when I remove the lever to P, D, 2 or L, it starts blinking again continuously.

  23. Hi, new member here. I have a 2013 Tacoma basic cab with a 6 foot bed, My question is this, I recently installed a snug top fiberglass cap that's a bit heavy, what would I be able to do to the rear suspension to give it a little bit more lift without adding springs? I'm afraid once I load it it will sag. thanks
  24. I have tried the internet to get the information I want. Here is my needs: How to delete the old addresses that were set up by previous owner. How to enter a new address for a destination I want. How to use the address from the address book to go to a given destination. LOL I have several cars with gps and never learned to use it.
  25. Just purchased an 08 Highlander Limited for my wife and its in great shape. I just cant seem to get the turn by turn to work and it is turned on. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
  26. Hello, I'm new here and glad to find this forum. Im having problems with my 1990 Camry LE. New stereo harness has less wires than original. I can get power to new unit but no sound. Reasonably sure all speaker connections are correct. There is a pink/white wire that among others that i cant account for. Suspect it powers an amp. Have looked under driver seat and found a 4”x4” box. Amp? It’s definitely not an electric seat so i rule this out. Have heard toyota put an amp under driver seat in some models that year. can someone please help me with some wiring info. i know that: gray = ignition blue/yellow= battery brown = ground have disregarded electric antenna wire, its broken and replaced with regular one. also believe i have all speaker wires correct too. what is the pink/white wire? What am i missing? any help is greatly appreciated.
  27. My runner doesn't mark the speed on the board and it jerks when I accelerate? Is it the vss sensor? can anybody help me ?
  28. Hi there! Does anyone know where they shift lock release button is on a 2005 Toyota Sequoia. I have searched and searched the internet and the manual. I have found it for Corollas RAV4s and several other models but not the Sequoia. The shifter on the Sequoia is near the steering wheel, unlike the other models where it's in the center console.
