[Rough/Off Road Recommendations]

I am trying to prep my RAV 4 for use in an area with terrible roads with deep potholes and mild-medium off road use.

Any suggestions for me on type of tires, shocks or anything else that you might recommend to best prepare and protect the car? Not very mechanically inclined and want to have it done before taking the car so your help will be appreciated! GLID

By now you probably already took care of the necessary modifications... But, I would suggest to checkout some of the reputable 4-wheel and off-road stores for kits that may be suitable for your needs and for the tools required to install (i.e. 4wheelparts.com and several others).

And another subject here. Of these small cars like the newer Prius and Corolla, do they carry a spare (even a donut) or do they carry an air compressor (blow up kit?) to blow up a tire that just might have blown out the sidewall? When will someone answer my questions?

No, air compressor is self provided. Some of these models have run flat tires, so no spare tires. If a tire has a 'blow out', no compressor will be able to help; if no spare on board, call for roadside assistance is about the next best option.
