  1. Do you have HIDs already? Because if you don't, it's not just a case of changing the bulbs. You'll need an entire HID assembly, with ballasts, new wiring, special bulbs, etc. They're hard to get now (I guess there's some legal issues with aftermarket HIDs), and you can plan on spending about $500.

If you just want a whiter bulb, get some Sylvania Silverstars.

No, I don't. I was just thinking about buying the Silverstars or Luminics. But, most of the reviews aren't making me run out and want to grab them. It appears that they have a very short life span and the visual gain is not that great to warrant spending so much.

  2. I was wondering if anyone has experienced any of these issues: I just had my car in the dealership, but they couldn't recreate problem. It has 33K miles:

    1. Fly by wire hesitation seems worst than when vehicle was new. I saw a TSB on this and is wondering if they have a fix so the shifting is smoother and doesn't hesitate so much

    2. Seems to slide into 2nd gear. Dealer said the Trans fluid was 2 qts low and that was why. I disagreed as I just had it refilled, but not by them.

3.Sometimes when accelerating I hear a pinging sound from the motor. Almost sounds like pushrods

4.Brake grinding/vibrating. Dealer replaced pads and turned rotors at 15k. Pads are at 60% and the rotors are grooved out. They said they need to be turned again. There is a TSB on replacing with larger rotors/pads. Dealer refused saying it doesn't fit the description.

5.Glove box that vibrates like crazy. They said they couldn't hear it.

I don't like having to bring my car in for warranty service, so believe me I wouldn't be making this up.

    Cheers :)

  3. This is for all 2002-2005 Camry owners: I have had several weeks to peruse the Haynes repair manual for 2002-2005 Camrys. The manual also included Solara and Avalon models. Let's just suffice it to say that my HP 7290 Scanjet and I "took a few liberties here". Anyone who needs information just ask me, and as time permits, I will step up to the plate. This is the North America manual. However, because there are Britons posting to this site occasionally, I would like to point out that there are numerous technical differences in the Toyotas sold to our very very good friends just across the big pond.

And we all ought to give a righto! to Fidgits for being a great site administrator.

Sorry to trouble you, but does the manual show how to replace the bulbs in the foglights on a 2003 Camry SE V6?

If you can scan and email, please sent to pc_brian@hotmail.com. Let me know when you do it since I don't check that email as often.

    Cheers :)

  4. I wanted to replace my headlight/foglight bulbs with the aftermarket Xenon/HID bulbs. Any recommendations on which ones are the most reliable and best? Also, how hard is it to do this? I am more concerned with the difficulty of replacing the foglight bulbs.

    Thanks :)
