[Need to replace Struts]

Hi,

I just got a quote to replace all four struts on my 2003 Avalon. I have 150k miles and they are worn out. My mechanic says the right way to do it is to replace the struts and springs along with control arms. I am being quoted around $1,900.......has anyone had this done on their car?? Just wondering about price. Thanks

Are there any issues that you are aware of in the 2003 Toyota Avalon XLS? I just got a silver metallic fine looking one.

I hear a hissing noise at low speeds from the engine and the steering wheel steers to the left inspite of wheel alignment being good. The steering wheel also squeaks while turning. Any ideas?

Just purchased exact same car in February........great car!! I do hear that light hissing noise...not sure what it is. Alignment seems fine

As for service: you may still be under powertrain warranty. If so, it might be worth your while to take it the dealership in case they find any issues that could be covered under the factory warranty.

No major issues on those cars: some of them have noisy front struts and there's a TSB on it, and some of them have sludge problems. As a general rule, most of the sludged cars are the ones that the owners have failed to change the oil on an even remotely regular basis. Other than that, they're pretty great.
