Piston slap is generally caused by the side skirts of the piston being worn. This can be caused just by a high mileage engine, wrong weight engine oil used for a long time of even a clogged oil jet at the base of a rod. Unfortunately, that slap or knock you are hearing has probably scratched the cylinder bore wall also. Saying that, you’ll need new pistons, rings bearings, maybe oil jets and a cylinder honing job. Will get a little expensive more than likely
