Hud64
I am considering a 2022 Highlander Hybrid as my next new vehicle. I live in the snow belt and am leaning toward a AWD version and if someone can help me with the following questions it would be appreciated. 1. Both the FWD and 4WD have the same HP ratings, so how do the electric motors drive each set of wheels, seems if you add a motor to the rear wheels the HP would greater in the AWD. Does the AWD use a driveshaft or simply a motor mounted in the rear for the rear wheels. 2. Does this vehicle have any direct mechanical drive through the ECVT or is the ECVT basically a generator that supplies electricity to electric drive motors. 3. If some can point me to a webpage that explains the drive train workings in some detail it would be great. Thanks for any help. Gary
