lothian
I hate posts that concern strange engine noises. How does one describe a noise onomatopoetically in sans serif font? Guess it's my turn to try... here goes: '04 Camry 4-Cyl 2.4L DOHC ~58k mi This is my first Camry, so I have zero familiarity with typical issues with this engine, or this make/model/year. I noticed a particular noise several months ago from the front of the engine. It's becoming more pronounced. The sound is a stridulation and definitely not typical gear noise--think tongue trill, or playing card on spokes--though around 150hz. It's tied to RPM--audible immediately at startup and idle; it changes in frequency with increased RPM and disappears above 2500rpm. Ever the pessimist, I suspect the some wear issue under the timing chain cover, like possibly a worn guide. Suggestions? Recommendations?
