frankpostie@yahoo.ca
Hi everyone! I have a 2006 Highlander and have owned it since 2007. 3.3 v6, been an awesome suv, but lately, after its been sitting overnight, or after a days work, when I start it, it makes a loud humming sound, like a loud vibration from the front, under the hood. It only happens on the start-up, never when the motor has been running. Any idea whats causing this? thanks, Frank
Toyota Owners Club
Sounds like it could be a drivebelt which is dry and when it heats up then it changes. Could also be a tensioner bearing. Best way is to trickle some water onto the belt and see if the noise disappears. If so, then change the belt.
frankpostie@yahoo.ca
Hi, I changed the drivebelt in the spring.... it works fine.. you could be right about the tensioner bearing... Im going to pop the hood and see where the sound is coming from... thats all I need is the bearing to stop and snap the belt.. thank you very much
