MARK YOUR CALENDARS!  The 20th Annual Bear Mountain Memorial Meet will be hosted by the Northeast USA MR2 Owners club on Saturday, 23rd September 2017 in Mahwah, NJ.

The Bear Mountain Memorial Meet is a legendary event in the car enthusiast community. This is the LARGEST annual Toyota MR2 and Celica Alltrac meet in the USA and is a full-day event, comprised of a scenic drive, a raffle for valuable prizes donated by generous sponsors, a car show judged by your fellow MR2 owners with trophies awarded in multiple categories, and plenty of opportunities to meet with other MR2 and Celica AllTrac owners. This is a 'must do' for any MR2 and Celica Alltrac owner.  We have had attendees from the New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania area as well as from distant locations such as Quebec, Canada and South Carolina. Check out the official video from the 2016 event on YouTube

One chilly fall Saturday in 1997, a handful of Toyota MR2 enthusiasts led by Joe and Roxanne Pearlstein met for an impromptu hunt for twisty, windy roads and fall foliage near the West Point Military Academy. A little more than a year later, Joe was diagnosed with a terminal illness and passed away shortly thereafter. Saddened by the loss of a beloved member of the Toyota MR2 community, the club decided to make the "Bear Mountain Meet" an annual event held in memory of Joe. Almost 20 years later, the Joe Pearlstein Memorial Bear Mountain Meet has become a legendary event in the car enthusiast community. The often imitated, but never duplicated full-day event every fall draws almost 250 participants from the New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania area as well as from distant locations such as Quebec, Canada and South Carolina.

Although the event is primarily a social gathering and free to attend, we strongly encourage participants to make an optional donation by buying raffle tickets, t-shirts, or registering their car in the car show. All net proceeds raised at the event are donated to the American Cancer Society. In 2016, the group donated $5,000 in the memory of MR2 owners Joe Pearlstein and Dave Jenny.

NOTE: This event is open to Toyota MR2s and Celica Alltracs only. We simply cannot accommodate the sheer number of participants if more come. PLEASE SIGN UP ON THE NORTHEAST USA MR2 OWNERS Facebook Event Page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What happens at the Joe Pearlstein Memorial Bear Mountain Meet?
The event consists of a ~100 mile scenic drive through the lower Hudson Valley, a Show & Shine competition with trophies awarded to winners in five categories, a raffle, and a t-shirt sale.

Who is invited?
Anyone who is in an MR2 or Celica AllTrac! All participants must be in an MR2 or Alltrac for the scenic drive portion of the event. Due to the anticipated turnout, we can not allow other platforms to join the groups. This will be STRICTLY enforced. With 100+ cars, it becomes very difficult to organize various platforms.

How much does it cost?
NOTHING! (Not including the purchase price of your MR2 or Celica Alltrac.) Any donations to buy raffle tickets are optional. You will also need money for breakfast and lunch or you may bring food from home.

What should I bring with me?
Bring a full tank of gas and a mechanically sound MR2 or AllTrac. We can't stop the scenic drive in the event of a breakdown so please make sure your vehicle is up to par. You may also want to bring an FRS/GMRS two-way radio to be in contact with the other participants.

Where should I stay?
A Group Rate has been set up at the Super 8 Mahwah (160 New Jersey Route 17; Mahwah, NJ). At least 20 rooms have been reserved for the group. You must call the hotel directly @ 201-512-0894 to speak with Jessica and reserve using your personal credit card. Ask for the "Northeast MR2 Owners" rate. Cancellation without penalty is permitted up to 6pm on the day before arrival.

Please note that the Joe Pearlstein Memorial Bear Mountain Meet is conducted on public streets. All local traffic laws must be followed. We do not take any responsibility nor assume any liability for any and all motor-vehicle related incidents. This is a rally, not a race; please drive carefully.
